Hi, in the last few month I have worked at vector-graphics for my bike. While this work I have found one more time a label, which is used very often on aftermarket-products (including the final-Buell-poster-pdf from Court ). But I have never seen it on original Buell-products. So my question: is it a faked one or a real existing Buell label? And if second, then on which product? Here the "maybe-faked one": Please look at the upper hole in the letter "B": Here a official one: Here another (older) official label... You see what I mean? I think someone has mixed both original-labels. And now the half internet-world is copying it. (Message edited by da_fraemda on January 13, 2011) |

You've got way too much time on your hands. |

Hard to say. in order to figure out to which label is fraud, you have 2 choices: 1. look as the word AMERICAN count the letters, then subtract 3, then count the letters of the next word...subtract2, then add both together, multiply by 3 and if that number is under 50 you should be ok. 2. Zoom into the bottom right of the name Buell, under the last L, there should be the artist name/signature. If you can't see it,...its a fake. |

I'm guessing the first is a fake. The ® is in the wrong place: outside the oval rather than inside. I have a sticker sheet that corroborates. Froggy, is that poster an "official" Buell® product? |

@Froggy: I think your poster is what I mean with "the final-Buell-poster-pdf". If I remember right, it was created after the closing of the Buell-Brand. here is the poster (By the way: I love this poster. It is the nicest I have seen about Buell) @Hybridmomentspass: Yes, there is a (R). But everyone can paint a sign on his picture. So we still have no "official" Buell® product found yet.. How much official crap do I need to post? Here is my keychain, I have a few of these, they came with every Buell I bought.

Froggy, are you sure the motorcycles that came with those keychains were real and not fake copy's of buells? |

Froggy, I suspect that the motorcycle you are riding is also a fake and not a Buell. |

Well if they did sell me Chinese knock offs, they went through significant effort, and even sent me a survey in the mail and sent a bunch of stickers.

I just went out in the garage to get more proof, and noticed the sticker on my Blast looked funny. I looked closely and it said "Boull Be-Last" FML. |

Froggy, is that even you? You disappeared for a while and how do we know you weren't replaced with a chinese imposter!?! Maybe... copyrighted images changed and there are multiple "authentic" images! |

If Froggy has indeed been replaced by a Chinese knock-off, his handle should be changed to "Floggy". |

sorry to disturb again, but... @Froggy (or Floggy®?): Oh, big error. Now you have posted several pictures from a well-known official logo. The "maybe-faked-one" has the upper hole in the letter "B" in a round form. Do you see it in my first posting? "How much official crap® do I need to post?" One would be enough for me. (If it has the "maybe-faked-one" on it) @Court: "quasi-official"? Hmmm.. I think, I understand what you mean. Maybe you could be so kind and ask the author of the poster which source he/she had used for this label. @all: Yes, I have to much free time this week. If I'm not mistaken, the "faked" logo is simply the "Impact" font and looks like the other one is probably a condensed "Arial" or something. I used Impact for my totally illegal Buell shirt because it's so close. ~SM |

There have been, over the life of Buell, at least half a dozen logos with as many different type styles. That first item kinda looks like it may combine the type from an early one with the oval from a later one. It could be an official logo that did not get much use? IF it is not official what difference does it really make? Is some one selling things with this logo on it? |

"It could be an official logo that did not get much use?" Yes. that was also my thinking. But I have found no one "official crap"® with this logo till jet. And if one is existing, I think minimum one guy of this forum will have it. Therefore I have asked my question. And because I'm searching of "official crap"®, the "Quasi-Official"® poster don't count for that. "IF it is not official what difference does it really make? Is some one selling things with this logo on it?" For me it was interesting, because I was designing an airbrush-design for my 1125R, which should be so authentic as possible. And close before last moment I recognized, that my chosen logo from the internet is only a "maybe-faked one"®. And to answer your question: Yes, this year a lot of after-market stuff with this logo appeared here. Alone last weekend I saw 3 different tee shirts and hoodie jackets with this logo. Greetings, Pascal} |

The "Quasi-Official" poster was the effort of a great deal of hard work between the, all official and on company time, folks at Buell Distribution Company (who did the research for the numbers and models), the folks at Harley-Davidson graphic standards (who hired one of the top ad agencies in the country) and Steve, at the agency, who did all the art work. Likely the most "official" of all the Buell posters ever done. The least official . . I'd call a tie between the one of the S2 done for the graphics conventions and perhaps the . . well, the other black S2 in the Wiggins poster . . that may have been a close 2nd to the passion poster. I've got them all hanging here in the office (along with the awesome poster Nikon used for a ad a couple years ago (non-Buell) and about 65 waiting for wall space . . and they are all fun. The logo, I'm betting, is as official as it gets. |
