I hope that our British brothers can see how completely dissatisfied we are with our Commander in Chief, and will see this irresponsible statement for what it is: COMPLETE BULLSH1T!
One of the first actions this disgusting President took was to throw the bust of Winston Churchill out of the White House. This was all I ever needed to know about this shameful president. It literally sickens me to see him denigrate one of the greatest men of the 20th century. We are truly embarked on a voyage to a Brave New World.
I too would like to say that this is complete bullshit...They have no allies other than those who buy their nuclear knowhow and arms...(spit)...we have more than once been attacked by terrorists equipped with French munitions.
Fellas.. If you want to curry favor with the French, denigrate Britain. It's been that way for the last 1,000 years. I don't take offense at his remarks. I just pity the guy for believing that France can be a better "friend" to the USA than Britain.
When President Reagan retaliated against Libya, our bombers launched from Great Britain but were denied French airspace and added hours and risk to the mission.
With friends like France, who needs enemas?
Disclaimer: I actually like the cowardly French but I don't trust them.
Brithri has it right. sadly a lot of people don't know that. it does smack of disrespect to all of those who earned it. esp those of what we call 'The Greatest Generation'
Libya: The F111's from Upper Heyford flew directly over my house en route to Libya. We were used to seeing one or two in the air at a time but that many was exceptional. France denied the F111's use of their airspace, as did Spain. The F111's entered the med by overflying Gibraltar (A British possession). They came back that way too!

Not just "The Greatest Generation". They have been our greatest allies (no disrespect intended to other allies) in the conflicts we are currently engaged in. Agree with the conflicts or not, they have staunchly stood by us.
I wonder, what is the reaction among the French to this turn in diplomacy?
If he had said "one of our best allies", that might pass. We should remember that it was France who was vital in helping us gain independence, freedom, nationhood. I'll never forget that, but yes, in recent times I cannot see how any nation can be viewed as a better partner/ally to America than the United Kingdom. They did an amazing job in Iraq where France, led by Chirac (indicted criminal), pretty much betrayed America. It will be a long time until the sting of that betrayal is forgotten. If they had joined the coalition forces along with the other 60+ nations, the Iraq war probably would have been averted. Chirac and his greedy cohorts have blood on their hands.
You know why Obama despises Churchill, don't you? Dreams From My Father, not "of", but "from"; VERY telling. The man is NOT a proponent for the best interests of America.
Fast: I'm a bitter drinker but I am a drinker! It is my intention to venture your way sometime this summer.I will try to make one of the TABOO rides this year. I just need to get the bikes sorted out at the moment!
In the world of strength sports, we have no genuine, long-term friends besides the Brits. I travel the world and have watched the central European nations undermine, pick away, belittle us at every turn.
We know who our friends are in even this limited situation. The English speaking people stick together. Unfortunately, that doesnt' seem to be the case everywhere.
The rebuilding of the relationship goes back to President Hoover and Prime Minister MacDonald in the late 1920s. A lot of their meetings and agreements where never documented and unknown to the public/ press due to the meetings out at Rapidan Camp.
Well the man has not the grasp of history or reality required to accurately attest who is our greatest ally apparently. Nor does he know what an ally is...apparently.
This type of alternate reality speak is unfortunate and despicable when one man presumes to speak for a country and maligns it's nature.
FWIW, I am half Brit on my mother's side. Her name is Flick. This is sure to get her talking.
As far as the Bust of Churchill I agree...it was a gift for G.W.B, Obama replaced it with one of Lincoln... not a big deal IMO. If it makes him feel better so be it.
The "strongest-ally" comment however are a slap in the face to Britain and should not have been said...because it isnt true.
I could not disagree with you more about the bust of Churchill. He has nothing but disdain for our best and most reliable ally. A short time later, this Thing that currently slithers around the White House, sent a questionable IPOD to the Queen with photos of his Inauguration. What an egomaniac.
