with all the doom and gloom threads going on I thought I would share my dogs new trick with you.... He now earns his living.... he hauls the wood... His buddy isn't much help... and the concrete isn't as slick as the snow... and for all that hard work.... wish I could have gotten some better pic's But its hard to be the musher and take pic's at the same time... |

He really looks healthy 70 + pounds of wear'n my ass out healthy... I think he knows we saved his butt from the shelter and he repays us every day. I tell ya... I can't wait to get home from work to see what he has been up to... He woke me up at 0530 on Saturday morning with the trashcan lid around his neck like a collar.... I'm sure he will reenact it in the near future and I will remember to get a pic.. |

Amen for adopted dogs.
Morgan (as in "Cap'n") is not quite 2. Born with a bad eye, the pic is right after the removal surgery. She's a rescue from Tennessee, we got her when she weighed about 4lb. She keeps an eye on the pug, and on gramps:
Calvin is another rescue dog, local pound, that I got as a yearling. He's fifteen now ...and yes, the pug behind him is on a raised platform... |

PLEASE have a tag on your dog with contact info that is up to date. I ALWAYS stop and at least try to help a wandering dog. It is imperative if you value your dogs. I hope someone would help mine if they ever got out. My dogs are tagged chipped with current info. |

Tom B- +1! I live next to a very small neighborhood park- seen several strays come and go, some I know, most I don't- one I got to read his tags, called the vet listed, made the connections, "mom" came and got him from about 2 neighborhoods away. Lost my own dog for 3 days- in one of Knoxville's most beautiful/affluent neighborhoods, just 3 city blocks away from the "dog park" where I trained him on and off leash... Finally found him myself, he'd gone feral, didn't know me until the moment he smelled me. The most agonizing days I've known. Yep, tags/ID/stuff to help keep your pooch safe is good. Knowing how to "dog-proof" things- priceless. |

Hey Joe... love Morgan (aka hawkeye in my book)... I have a thing for the odd animals. One of our cats name is "ST", short for Seven Toes. |

We used to have a lab/rotty cross-pound puppy named Jasmine. She went about 110-115lbs and could flat out run close to 20mph. so when the snow would hit we'd cross the street and I'd hook the sled up to her harness, drop a kid in and let her rip. That dog would have a smile from ear to ear and the kids would be howling in delight...I love winter. |

I have a lab/sheperd/collie cross named Ranger. We took him in as a puppy after he was thrown away in a county park. He's 12 now and retired. His career was spent as a companion for my two sons as they grew up. We don't have snow in Tampa but there's a photo around somewhere of him pulling both boys on a 4 wheeled hand dolly. Now sure who was smiling more, the boys or the dog. If I could just teach him not to shed, he'd be the perfect dog. |

Ask any wife - If there is somebody around the house w/ nothing to do trouble is bound to ensue.

A friend had a dog with one eye. They bought it a ball with an eyeball painted on it. They took great pleasure in astonishing guests with their calls for the dog to "go get her eye." Sick. I love them. |
