To Start,my youngest son has always had dirt bikes, four wheelers, sand rails ect...
but he has never been interested in road bikes, until his buddy's went and bought scooters. Now he dosen't want a scooter, he wanted something no one else had, and something he made, and so began the search,
(note: this is all supposed to be his project on a low budget) we found a 82 Honda Cm250 in the paper, that need some work for $50.00

the orginal owner's son had started to restore it.. Ha Ha.
so we brought it home and striped it down,

He wanted to Build a bobber.

and cut the rear tail section off,

he went and bought 20' of chromalloy tubing and we built a hard tail, and found a gas tank at the salvage yard that fit the style,(off of a Honda 110 ATC) I welded all of the critical stress Joints and bent the pipe,

I built a battery box, and re wired all of the electrical, and got it running and found a springer seat and heatlight on Ebay,(the little thing runs like a top)we have slowly been working on it over the summer as time permits,

this last weekend we put it back up on the table, and built a two into one swept back exhaust and wrapped it for that old skool look,. Now I just need ti figure out to make the forward controls, and get some vintage looking white wall tires, then we will be ready to strip it down for paint. so far he has about $200.00 in it, and has learned how to weld ex piping pretty good.. I will add more pic's as we get more done.

I have to admire the minimalist look of true bobber bikes.

Looks fantastic! Love the pipe, and the newly-chopped rear fender. For the price, blows a scooter out of the water!

Call me the odd man out . . . but I'd say that it's less important WHAT you build than it is you and your son get the time together.

They grow fast.

Very cool.

Yes you are correct, but I don't think we could move it back far enough.. LOL He is a Big Boy.And this 250 is a small bike, It's more of a Project/expermint. He wants to Enter it in some local home town Car Show,s & events, and just out style the scooter gang

My thoughts exactly! The bike isn't my cup of tea at all, but what a great project!

Looks great to me so far : )
only one thing I would change: put a disk up front. perhaps I'm wrong, it couldn't weigh too much or go so fast.

A disk brake front end that would probably cost more than the rest of the project though!

Looks like a big pile of fun to me.

(posted from my phone so this might look weird)

If you could find a front end from a CB125, those had a mechanical disc brake.
