The 522 shoots straights, eats anything I put in it so far and is a delight to shoot.
Great accuracy to boot...
The vortex is a good reflex red dot with high ratings in every forum I have bumped into. There was a few brightness issues when the Strike Fire was a dual (red/green) dot, but now they only sale the REALLY bright red dot version and that is the one on the 522. It can be had for $140ish.
My 10 yr old that I took to Buelltoberfest managed to get a 1 inch group at 35 feet standing with the 522 and Vortex.
hdbob, check out the bushnell trs-25. its on sale at optics planet for $92. normally $200. a guy i know has it on a ptr-91 (308) and it handles the recoil like a champ. great little red dot for the money!
You folks might be the only people on the planet I haven't told this to already but
I got to shoot a S and W model 500, 50 magnum last weekend!
and it was everything I had hoped it would be. Accurate, comfortable and devestating. Heavy pistol though at 10 and 1/2 lbs empty. 5 rounds in the cylinder brings it up to an even eleven. The weight works well for a split second as you pull the trigger but after that wow. Ya gotta have a trailer to haul the thing around. I want one.
I picked up a Taurus 500 magnum Raging Bull at Bud's Gun Shop a few months ago and man was it heavy, and it was empty. I'd have to start working out just to pull it out of a holster one handed. Would love to shoot one.
