Terri and I went out for our Annual New Year's Day ride today. We went to Rockport, MA and enjoyed Great strudel and a cup of good coffee (tea for Terri). The weather was so nice that we sat outside overlooking the harbor. On the ride home, the temp reading was 62 ° F. It's my warmest New Year's Day ride yet! Of course, two years ago it was 8° F, so things are just balancing out. We saw only two other bikes; a Harley Dresser with two people on board and a Ducati 1000 (the air cooles retro sport) with a solo rider. It was a wonderful way to put on 150 miles!
We went out for a ride today too. Just an hour or so in the local area. It was about 45 degrees, which is much nicer than the temps during my ride to work lately. We saw three other bikes, all cruisers, one two-up.
It was nice here in MD today too. Shame I couldn't ride. I was under a car all damn day, figuring out why a car's brand new engine (<1k miles) had no oil pressure.
We had 60's yesterday. I was off, so I went to work a little late. It was nice to get the short ride to work, on my day off. I sat at my desk and admired the warm sunny day and blue skies all day, on my day off. I ended up working late, on my day off. The good thing was I DID get to enjoy the ride back home from work, on my day off. I would have enjoyed and benefited greatly from a nice long ride, but I'm not complaining. I'm really glad I have work to do, and try to remember to count my blessings, even on my day off. I think it rained about 2 inches today, and finished off all the snowmen. I took the truck to work today, on my day off.
Today was nice here. Don't know what the temp was as I didn't look, but it was sunny and pleasant outside. Nice change from the last 2 months of overcast.
I am in Wisconsin with a week to go before flying to San Francisco... Steve, you better fix the weather before I get there. I have no internet except on my Blackjack... trying to get ATT internet through it on 3G has been one big headache... just got a 550 GIG external drive as I try a system restore... grrrr...
Although the weather's been mild (I'm not that far away from Ratbuell)I didn't ride as I was hoping for a little more rain to wash away the salt and sand and whatever that orange crystalline stuff is (probably another salt variation). I'm not as concerned about the corrosive effect as I am about the loss of traction when you hit an unexpected patch in a corner. They just dumped WAY too much around here with the last snowfall
