Hi. (apologies if you already saw this in the 1125r section). This is a shameless Plug for Motorcyclist Radio Ep 1. Let's start with a caveat: this first episode has zero Buell content and some H-D content. If this ruffles your feathers, I apologize in advance. I'm solely posting it here because I know a few people here have said nice things about what I do and I wanted to give them opportunity to listen. Of course, you've all got the right as Americans to tell me it sucks if you're so inclined. I just ask that you be as gentle as possible in your criticism as my skin in far thinner than it oughta be given what I do. That said... This first episode was recorded at the So.Cal International Motorcycle Show in Long Beach a couple weeks ago. Best part? The time I spent with Nicky Hayden in the models' changing room after the Ducati Fashion Show (no other journos were there). Yes, it was distracting. Worst part? Some of it may feel a little rah-rah/infomercial-ish. I figured I might as well be positive about the various brands and their bikes and let their reps speak their piece since the industry is so troubled right now. I also wanted to give a 'you are there' feeling to it. These annual press conferences are what they are. Info link: http://www.entertainmentradionetwork.com/shows/mot orcyclist.html On that page you'll see the LISTEN LIVE NOW! Button. Since the show airs once a week on terrestrial radio (mabye on a station near you, maybe not, and I don'thave the current list sorry), you'll always get some other show unless you click this button when Motorcyclist Radio actually happens to be on. When is that you ask? Good question: It airs from 5-6pm Pacific every Saturday. If you're not good at math like me, that means it's 8-9pm eastern every Saturday. You guys in the middle will have to do your own arithmetic. And if you miss it at that time, have no fear, you can pull it down any time during the week (it's replaced by the new ep after that one airs), at: http://feeds.radioamerica.org/MotorcyclistRadio/SH OWS/index.shtml And if you miss THAT, then we'll have it all on iTunes podcasts for free. When that is set up, I'll send y'all the links. P.S. EB of Erik Buell Racing has already committed to an hour with me. I'm taking suggestions for questions now either by posting or pm. Your choice. I'll post about that separately when I have a date/time locked in with him -- probably to be recorded and aired before Daytona. Although maybe it would be better to wait till after? What do you think? |

VERY cool, Steve! I'll keep an ear/eye out for the first broadcast. Having met you a couple times and tried to follow you around a track once or twice as well...I can't help but think your perspective will be good for the sport. Good on you for being objective and allowing all the folks to have their time; that's the only way to go! (sorry, that old Journalism BA peeking out from under 16 years of dust) For the EB interview...I'd say jump on it as soon as he makes himself available. Not like there won't be enough going on at any given time to fill an hour. My thoughts? Drop the whole HD thing. Let it go. We've heard enough. Don't even *acknowledge* HD - that'll piss them off more than badmouthing them ever would! Look forward. Ask him what he's thinking; what his plans are; where are we in the 100 Year Plan? Get some of the little Buell-isms out there for everyone to see and hear, like the Values, and some deep background like Dave and Court put in 25 Years like the barn, and the heater, and the 1125 ancestor that was built in...what was it, '87? - share that with more Americans than just us Buellers. Don't weigh it as good or bad or anything (OK, you could maybe paint the David/Goliath picture just a little bit...lol), just put it out there as fact and let people KNOW where this little brand came from, and what it's been through (and, in some ways, is going through again), and who the folks are behind it all. Talk about why it could be important, not only for the sport, but for American Industry at large. That sentence looks a little hokey...but you're better at this than I am and I'm sure you can make it presentable! And ask about HIM. Make him as human and accessible as he really is. I think that's a huge part of this brand. But save a 5 minute spot for after Daytona. Just in case. Or...ignore all of that and just do what you do best. What do I know? |

Thanks for the update Steve! I noticed a few older episodes were creeping back into ITunes. HD makes good motorcycles, they deserve coverage, no beef here. Erik Buell Racing makes better motorcycles, they deserve more enthusiastic coverage. I thought you always did a good job of letting the sales guys get their message out, but also getting a little real world perspective in there in a fun way also. |

Ditto - posted on Steve Natt's Facebook. Trying to listen tonight - couldn't catch it when first aired. http://feeds.radioamerica.org/MotorcyclistRadio/SH OWS/index.shtml doesn't look like it has been posted yet. |
