Once in a while I actually use my truck. The last time I used it, the windshield wiper linkage came apart so this morning I decided to give it a little love. After fixing the wipers, it was running like crap and I assumed an ethanol fuel problem as it has a carb. A spark plug wire had become unseated. Total cost for complete freedom to drive in this winter mess? $.21 for an e-clip at Ace for the wiper linkage. She's a '77 half ton Power Wagon with a set of Goodyear Wrangler MTR's and can't be stopped. This truck is my personal apocalypse rig. No matter what, it will not only run but it will get there and back as well. It was fun to see all the other more sophisticated vehicles out there on the road today and what they were not getting done, while I motored around like it was nothing. I really should use this old war horse more often. |

I bought a little 1995 Nissan 4x4 beater last winter. I love it. It's been a beast in some of the worst weather we've had around here in a few years. It won't pass emissions even tho it runs like a top. I have to decide next may to either keep it and spend up to $300 so it'll pass or qualify for a waiver or sell it. I'm planing on keeping the magnum for another year at least so I'll probably spend the money on the mighty Nissan. Other than the emission test issue, I've only put a battery in it. |

Dan - you can still get the white nylon wiper linkage bushings from Mopar. I used to have a bag in the garage "in case"...I'll see if I still have 'em or at least a part number. But they're the weak link. I can't wait for the time/money/lift access to do my project swap - totalled 36k mile Magnum R/T's 5.7 EFI Hemi and 5 speed autostick, with computers and harnesses...into my '72 Satellite station wagon. heehee. Non-a/c car will have PLENTY of room for the intercooled Procharger, if the Hemi isn't enough grunt for me |

Not long ago I got rid of the last of my Jeep fleet...at one point I had 4 of them..A nice '98 XJ loaded and unmolested. A 4 door '87 XJ 4x4 with the usual mods, covered in rock dents...A '91 MJ pickup..4.5 stroker, auto, rockbox, 8.8 rear with full detroit and 5.38 gears, high pinion 9" hybrid front, 4 link with 38" boggers...and I had a partially done '87 MJ 2 wheel drive that i was working on a smallblock transplant before I tired of it all. I like trucks. Right now I have only my trusty '99 ranger.....the Jeeps were a hoot, but I kept breaking them...not their fault...I can break a concrete block in a rubber room ... |

I used to love watching Simon and Simon because of the old Power Wagon that the elder brother drove around.

I just recently entered the Ford realm in October when i picked up a 94 f150xlt for 2k. 130k miles and the thing still feels like an ox. Aside from 10 mpg, it doesn't know the word quit. |

I have a 2001 Ram 1500 SLT with 167,000. The thing was a godsend with the 4 feet of snow we got in one week last winter. Damn thing almost killed me a couple months ago when the left wheel hub broke at 70+ on the interstate. I was way out of town and the nearest shop was a Dodge dealer who fixed it for $500 but told me the other hub doesn't look too good and in fact the whole front suspension -ball joints, tie rods, etc - are shot and a time bomb. Quoted me something like $1,000 + in parts and $3K in labor make it safe. So it's sitting out front waiting for me to make time to take it to my independent repair shop. In the meantime I bought a new little Hyundai and the gas money I save on the 1500 miles a month covers the monthly payment. But boy I miss the truck. I have above average mechanical skills but I never tackled a project that big. More afraid I'll get it apart but not back together. 4k seems high though - your thoughts? |

I love my truck too... 92 Nissan Hardbody King Cab, 4banger, absolutely the most reliable vehicle I've owned!!! Before that, had a diesel Datsun king cab- screwed up an injector repair, damn thing spewed smoke like it was on fire- had to put it down. Once had an International Travelall, harshly chopped to look a little like a mutated "checker" cab blacked out with rattle can paint... called it "the Beast"... |

my dad used to have a green '77 dodge custom deluxe with the "rock crusher" tranny dump the clutch in 2nd from idle in locked 4wd and the tires would chirp, on gravel with the off road 35's would dig a little divot, and that's without even touching the gas I loved that truck |

I love the old Power Wagons. My dad has a '72 that will always be my personal definition of "truck". My first car was a '67 Power Wagon. 318's all round. Dad's popped about 6 different one's in his over the years... finally built one this last time instead of dropping in a used engine. ~SM |

have a '99 Tacoma, inline 4, 4x4, just doesn't quit. My brother-in-law uses it more than me...his cheby always in the shop. It has over 100k and hasn't skipped a beat. The only vehicle that made me quit missing my '74 Scout. |

i really miss my 86 toyota 4x4 turbo pickup. That was a lot of fun, caged, all terrain tires. I should have never sold it my current 01 ranger is fine, its loaded and probably a far better truck for commuting to and from work, but it just isnt the same |

Had to get rid of my Scout when I went back to school. She was a jealous mistress who didn't tolerate outside interests very well. She demanded I put her back together nearly every night and wake her slowly in the mornings....didn't leave much study time. But, in the snows of Colorado she was a beast. The Tacoma is better in every way, except sheer machismo. I actually had to buy two of them to put them together to make one that ran.....them was the days |

I've been out working mine lately. Diesel 550 4x4 has some real capability.
Little ole' CJ7 needs my attention again. It has a sbc 406 heartbeat and is getting hd Chev half ton axles going with a turbo 400 this time out. Wow, I just realized I have had this thing 13 years.
