The pass of the car that slowed for the cross walk was the biggest no no in my book. Kids aren't tall enough to be seen over the cars. In my dumber days, but never for that long a stretch. A kid chasing his ball into the street is what changed me. The ball was the only warning I got and I was all the way on the binders when he crossed right where I would have ended him. It is always in the back of my mind.
All it would take is for one other vehicle driving like him to end his day. I was always amazed when I worked in downtown Des Moines all the cars that would take off as soon as the light turned green, while their counterparts would be blasting through the intersection as it was turning red.
