Anyone here actually honor, celebrate, or at least respect the birth of Christ
one of the many reasons I hate this time of year...
The reason for the season was lost a long time ago....
Christmas day or should I say X-mas will be spent watching some ungrateful kids open a bunch of boxes of crap that will only get used a few time if any. Then the same crap will be sold this summer in a yard sale for a 1/4 of what somebody paid for it. Christmas...gimmie gimmie gimmie

This is a seasonal favorite for me...it is hilarious....It stands as my best lampoon shot at how Christmas has been reduced to an irrelevent spend fest with little regard to the Christ miracle.

Lots of folks get all irritated by the commercialization of Christmas, but really think about it. What would we rather have if not free enterprise and Christmas celebration? It's up to us to teach the kiddos and others the meaning behind all the hoopla. Darn Wise Men!
Back on topic...
What Child is this who, laid to rest On Mary's lap is sleeping? Whom Angels greet with anthems sweet, While shepherds watch are keeping?
This, this is Christ the King, Whom shepherds guard and Angels sing; Haste, haste, to bring Him laud, The Babe, the Son of Mary.
Why lies He in such mean estate, Where ox and ass are feeding? Good Christians, fear, for sinners here The silent Word is pleading.
Nails, spear shall pierce Him through, The cross be borne for me, for you. Hail, hail the Word made flesh, The Babe, the Son of Mary.
So bring Him incense, gold and myrrh, Come peasant, king to own Him; The King of kings salvation brings, Let loving hearts enthrone Him.
Raise, raise a song on high, The virgin sings her lullaby. Joy, joy for Christ is born, The Babe, the Son of Mary.
(Yeah, I'm a 'tard, haven't figured out to embed yet...)
On a serious note- at least around this time of year, the music CAN get better- just played through my copy of Cyrus Chestnut's "A Charlie Brown Christmas"...disc is out of of print but out there if you search, a brilliant revisiting of Vince Guaraldi's great compositions along with some well-chosen classics. Many jazz greats guest on this one, including Vanessa Williams with the Harlem Boys Choir!
Worth it for Fur Elise, reworked by Strunz and Farah...

FYI, pretty much EVERY tradition associated with Christmas is actually a throwback to some pagan holiday, so don't get bent outta shape if there's not enough Christ in it. Probably should have picked a different time of year to celebrate, since no one really knows when He was actually born.
