Thank God we decided to WIN the war instead of just ending the war.
I was thinking that same thought earlier today. I always have the History Channel on at the shop on historical dates just so I don't forget.
Love him or hate him, Rush Limbaugh made a comment a few years back that rings true: my paraphrase: "The only way to win the war is to defeat the enemy. There must be a winner and there must be a loser."
This age of political correctness has badly influenced how our military leaders are allowed to "fight". The current "Rules of Engagement" are ridiculous.
Life isn't fair, and war most certainly is not either. But when you give your opposition every "benefit of the doubt", you can bet they are going to take full advantage of them and then some (and they'd be a fool if they didn't).

>>> Our debt to those who responded to that day will never be repayed.
I tend to agree with your sentiment. I'd add that to allow an erosion of liberty in America is to horribly dishonor the efforts and sacrifices of those who have fought to preserve it. The best we can do to honor them is to work to fight against the looters and moochers in and around our federal government who have been systematically/progressively taking our freedom in favor of ever more gov't control.
I hosted a Pearl Harbor remembrance day event at our VFW Post Tuesday night. We started off with the famous FDR speech and people all around the room told about their experiences when that speech was given in 1941 and how it changed their lives forever. We then had several WWII veterans talk about their combat experiences. Still shocking to hear til this day.......... Come on now, all you vets out there, join your local Veterans of Foreign Wars or the American Legion, protect your legacy.
