Having had my frame and other expensive parts saved by those pods, I can see the wisdom in the design. Erik took lemons and made lemonade. Form should ALWAYS follow function in my book. Harley is the polar opposite. Maybe that's why they didn't "grok" Buell. |

Turbo XB and a street-able XBRR, ah to dream. Will be interesting to see the variations of 1190 that are officially on the market, on the street, and in a showroom near you. |

Wow- to think about how an Aerocharger would respond to a Buell XB motor... |

>>>I find it very hard to believe that H-D deliberately I don't think deliberation was even on the radar. A lot of it was pure spite with a catalyst of outright stupidity exacerbated by fragile egos. To quote of the executives when I gave the presentation with the M.I.T. folks at the Cow Palace in San Fran . . "Buell will get something HD doesn't have over my dead body". He didn't much care what it was. Read some of the interviews that are coming out with a grain is salt. Time will allow a lot of light to shine. |

Back on the styling theme, the Buell that really hooked me was when they came out with the XB12R in 2004 in red with the gold wheels and trim. I still love it.

Pods seem to be the big thing with the design, but personally, I kind of like them They look good from the top, from the front. I think the pods could have been blended in with the frame and the fairing, so they did not stand out so much. They do protect the bike quite a bit in a tip over. The pod surface does scratch easy. You have to be careful when you take them off, and lay them on a soft rag. Personally, overall I like the Pods. Unique and kind of mean and jet like. The above bike does look good, Imagine the pods and that fairing being blended together. i think it would look okay....REX

Another article online about the Typhon. http://www.autoevolution.com/news/erik-buell-racin g-1190-rrb-typhon-streetfighter-prototype-27414.ht ml An excerpt...
EBR is working intensely right now on getting the new 1190RS Superbike model ready for production, which is consuming all our resources. We had been talking with our friends at Pegasus about our plans for a streetfighter model that would follow the 1190RS, and mentioning we could not work on it at this time. Pegasus asked if they could build a concept model to show, so we sent many CAD models over for them and our friends at Gruner to use to speed up the design process. They did a great job in a very short time! stated Erik Buell on the Typhon.

I think you have it wrong. "What the heck is CAD models? Are they like the clay models?" Would be their reaction. |

This is going to be interesting . . . the Buell Parts folks have made a mockery of the Harley-Davidson legal department for years. HD has tried to close them down but to date the score is . . . Buellparts - 1 Harley-Davidson Legal - 0 I suspect the Germans can get away with about anything they want. . . . including, as buellparts has, using all the photos off the HD and Buell sites. |
