The clowns are apparently going back to Mc alester, OK after the humiliation they suffered a couple of weeks ago for a full day of "protests' at the city hall, marine corps., eastern oklahoma state college and Mc Alester high school. December 10th about 1 pm staring at the city hall. If you live in the area.. Be there.. They are coming to Mulvane, ks. the home of the patriot guard on Nov. 30th.. I'll be there in protest against the pricks.. | ||

Well, I live here in McAlester, and I laughed my butt off when I heard what happened. What really makes it sweet, NO ONE in McAlester would sell them tires. I have to work, but if at all possible, I'm definitely gonna do my part.  These clowns need to be stopped. I will say this, this is not one of those towns they want to piss off. I was once told by someone from this area, we have plenty of places to hide bodies where they would never be found. | ||

I'm all for a counter protest, but to anyone planning on attending I can only recommend please be careful. As misguided as these animals are (understatement of the year) they are not all stupid. I believe at least one of the head sicko's daughters is an attorney. My guess is they have two goals. One is publicity. Second is to hope some good citizen gets carried away and commits a crime such as an assault or another property damage action so they can have them arrested. Which would certainly get them more publicity. I rode with the Patriot Guard Riders or PGR here in the DC area and years ago they (Westboro) scheduled a demonstration across the street from the National Naval Medical Center (Bethesda). Initially we, the local PGR chapter wanted to schedule a counter-protest and our chatter on the PGR website was pretty rabid. We were "ordered" to stand down by the PGR national leadership or lose our charter. It made me crazy at the time but in retrospect it was probably a good decision. It takes a lot to keep your temper in check when these cretins show up at a fallen hero's funeral so again I hope y'all show up in force and do anything and everything to make their's an unsuccessful event.Just don't give them an excuse to make the LEOs there arrest you. I grew in Westboro (it's a nice neighborhood and the church has sure screwed up the reputation) and they are certifiable nuts. Fred, the old man, is an attorney as are most the family.
They also have a team that video tapes the entire landscape at each demonstration and they pursue anyone they think is adverse. I've learned, driving by their demonstrations, not even to raise a camera lest I hear from them the next day. They'll run the tapes, then the tag and find you. Interesting to read confirmation that so many of them are attorneys. One thing I'd heard from a co-worker is that's how WBC funds themselves to do all these protests: they sue people who bother them at these protests and use the money from the suits to fund more protests. If y our stock and trade is litigation, you don't just sit and wait for it to come to you. Ask James Sokolove and Associates (can't stand ambulance chasers  ). Find your niche and then market to drive sales. The Phelps clan have discovered that they can create their own revenue stream. Additionally, they can become their own plaintiffs. That means that their cut of the settlement is 100%. It costs relatively little to file a suit against someone. The protests are irrelevant. They have no real cause. They simply calculated the absolute worst things you could say to someone and then figured out the absolute worst place and time you could say them to create the greatest impact. Additionally, they mutilate the intent of the tax code and organize as a "church" in order to avoid paying taxes on the awards they win. Now, if you want to make them go away, pass a law that prohibits protests within so many feet of a funeral with heavy fines levied against violation. Hit them in the wallet and they will not chance it. It's all about the $$$ for this group. | ||

Here's a pic of the nut jobs in action. Took it this morning waiting for a left turn. They can be found somewhere in town on almost any given day. This is one of their regular spots. They love to harass the church on my left; the clergy there has been outspoken against the nut jobs. Fatty's ID'd the scam very accurately. They've made a lot of $ from our local governments. Won't be too long before they bring suit against some city/police for not protecting their vehicles when they're out-and-about. And about what Anonymous was saying, check out the gal in tan pants on the very left. She has video and is filming the southbound cars stopped to my left. Someone honked and she was very interested in that.  | ||

I don't think they can sue the police for much... I'm trying to draw from my Criminal Law class, but the police aren't required to protect individuals or property. They're there to enforce the law. It's not against the law unless you get caught... | ||

After they leave 17th and Gage . . the move down toward Lowman Methodist near 15th and Gage. I think they use these as "practice spots" as their "compound" is located between Huntoon and 12th just East of Gage. Interesting fun . . the kids were in some convoluted scavenger hunt one night and one of the bonus items was one of the Phelps' signs . . they found Sam Phelps (the illegitimate son of Shirley Phelps-Roper) who sneaked them into the compound's storage area and secured the sign. These folks take "nut case" to the next level. | ||

Well, I said "at least one"....is a lawyer. So I was off by a dozen or so. A lot of you here probably already know this but since the earliest days of the PGR, the PGR would attend the same funerals and do their best to either physically screen the mourners from the protestors (bodies, vehicles and even large trucks have been used)and/or drown out the chants by singing or revving motorcycles. One important difference is that the PGR coordinates with the family beforehand and will only attend IF INVITED - ultimately giving the PGR better access, advantageous position, etc. Obviously the PGR also has a huge advantage, as they should, in the way they are treated by local law enforcement. One thing I did notice is how quickly the media came to ignore or downplay Westboro. Nice to know that at least in this case the have appeared to have a social conscience and it wasn't always about ratings. | ||
