My youngest has wondered upon a deal that looks . . . in my eyes to be TGTBT. iPad . . 65GB + 3G for $550 on a website onlinelaptopsim.com. Anybody have any experience? I told him I'd treat it like a loaded gun. He found it using some findit.com site. |

I don't see them listed on ResellerRatings, which is a site where people post reviews on various online retailers. http://www.resellerratings.com/ Needless to say, I make 99% of my electronics purchases at Newegg.com. Great prices, may not always be the absolute cheapest online but you pay for their fantastic customer service. They have a near perfect score on ResellerRatings. My advice: Avoid this onlinelaptops place, it looks like it was setup in 5 minutes using a template, its most likely a scam. |

Frog man is right - as usual:-). There are NO deals on iPads. But there are lots of scams. Same reason for both: The iPad is one of the most popular consumer items of all time, the problem is getting them, not selling them. Estimated sales for forth quarter 2010: 5.5 million units. I recommend buying apple stuff at an apple store if there is one nearby. If there is a problem, they tend to treat you a lot better if you bring it back to where you bought it. |

Just an FYI, Apple is strict with retailers regarding the prices of their products, so finding something more than a few bucks off MSRP is rare. Their pricing policy does make it easy to spot scams though. |

I think you guys . . . told me what I pretty much knew. It's just good to hear if from folks old (not directed at you Jon ), wiser and more knowledgeable. Mucho thanksalotta. I get the Academic discount and have found that's about the most I've ever seen knocked off Apple products. I scored a copy of Office 2011 for Mac this morning and am thrilled . . at long last . . to see OUTLOOK. Thanks again guys. |

No offense... Why get excited about MS Office? The only reason I can think for you to get excited is to get connected to a corporate exchange server, even then it may not work depending on their settings. Ournetwork at work still won't let the Macs on because they do not have the proper credentials to get on the network. |

I never connect to an exchange server anyway . . . but, again I'm old fashioned, and am just used to the look and feel of Outlook. I've tried the Apple mail and Entourage . . . I'm not sure how much I'll use it but we'll see. |

Norton Commander Is that that olde English dictation software that lisps and makes your hard drives leak a little oil? |
