That same engineer said it couldn't be fixed with the tools we had. There are pictures of the repair work. Proof positive everyone ought to have a log in their tool box! (Photos of "donor" bike) It is a royal PITA to remove the rear isolator on an XB. |

In traffic - I was lane splitting and a faster rider came up behind - I moved over to let him pass, while I was looking in the mirror to recommence splitting (semi legal here btw) the traffic had come to a dead stop. Oh sh*t. Grabbed too much picks, tucked and endod at +/-35mph. Straight over handlebars and bike landed on me - upside down. Full leather suit and kit on. Some crush injuries to legs. Rode home. |

I was in a wreck on a demo bike at Homecoming in '07. On my fiftieth birthday I also had the free tour of the infield hospital. All because I made a mistake coming hot into a corner where people wrecked directly in front of me. For many reasons I chose to NOT run over Mark. If I had known him better(as I do now) I would have run over him, not only to keep from going down, but also just to get some good laughs! The ride to the pharmacy was unique also, if I recall it was about fifteen miles the wrong way from our hotel. Then I rode 750 miles home early in the am without saying good bye to mark (my roomy) because he had finally got to sleep and I could not lay down again with my broken ribs and sprained ankles. That was a long ride, probably could not have done it on a non Uly. Long and soft suspension rules. Really sucked to get off and on at stops for fuel though. |

My scenario similar to Dave's. I endo'd at just 30 mph. Hard part of the triple tail landed on my right humerous, turning it to dust. I got a nice shiny titanium spike & golf ball-looking thing and about 25% mobility now. Not a day goes by that it doesn't hurt like hell. Funny thing to me is that when the carnage was over, I was still sitting on the bike, just facing 180 from my original direction. |

Hmm, I've done a lot of these... Variation on the Kickstand, I was rolling my XB across the floor on the rear stand. Stand wheel caught a piece of kitty litter and stopped, bike kept moving. Rolled away at .0672 MPH while I tried to hold it up using the plate, on handed. Note: This simply can not be done. -1 Clutch lever. Also let the oil filter a little loose (Anything short of welded and wire tied anymore) and hit the track. Out lap on the third session went to turn in on turn one and, well, just sort, kinda "fell over" -1 toe nail, - 1 set bars, -1 puck (For a long no less) -1 Lever, -1 throttle tube, -1 fly screen. + One huge rash on my pride. Sort of Sucked. |

misjudged the tensil/break strength of a tree branch across a trail.... rather than stopping and clearing ... I tried to hop it like my old KLR... it didnt work well. the BAS did shut the bike off, my knee hurt for weeks... I went and bought the Spot locator incase I downed it again in the middle of 'nowhere' |

I took Memorial Day weekend off to go through Keith Code's Superbike School at Watkins Glenn, and had three days previously gotten my S-1 back from having a Nallin Stage II installed. Instruction was given on riding out, as fast as you could handle, and, with no brakes, navigate the Track in 3rd Gear (IIRC). That was a hoot. Go back to the class room, and listen to Instruction of how to get around the track in 4th gear, as fast as you'd dare, again WITHOUT using the brakes. Once around the Track, was a little scary, but I didn't remember that the second time around, going too fast again. Well, anyway, I'm haulin' the Mail (for me, anyway), never been on a track before, and the second time coming into the first turn, downhill to the right, with a tighter and tighter radius, and going too fast, and not knowing how far I can lean without losing it, I decide to roll out off the track. By the time I decided to hit the brakes, I was on the gravel, then the grass, and down I went. Not going very fast by this time. Broken rear brake lever, front lever, ham can, turn signals, handlebar, scuffed up the Kawasaki Green Racing suit, I'd rented for the day. No injuries, other than my Wallet was blown up by what the day had cost . Luckily, I didn't know anyone there. |

How about welding a broken tab back on the sidestand of an XB9SX without bothering to remove said sidestand, or even otherwise propping up the bike? There I was laying, under the bike with a lit oxy acetylene torch, carefully puting a nice little bead around that straight section of side stand. Err, slightly angled section of side stand. Err, Significantly angled section so side stand. Oh crap! (and for the record, I straightened it back out without removing the side stand also. ). |

While at work one day I was reading a thread about Torn Isolators, After work I went out and started the M2 while standing next to it. I then walked around the other side got on my knees and reached my hand up to feel if the isolator was torn or had any ripped rubber, At the same time layed my forearm on the ROASTING HOT Header!!! Still have that Burn scar a year Latter! |

Hmmmm so far one of the dumber things I've done was Not paying attention the 1st spring after getting my xb. I was making a right hand turn and just let go of the clutch while throttling. front wheel was in the air midway through the turn and i was mentally crapping my pants while an onlooker jaw dropped at my stupidity. Needless to say i was and still am way to inexperienced to wheelie and have only done so on accident. |

Noticed that I snapped off the bolt in the front dog-bone isolator on the Scg. Decided I'd use an e-z-out to get the old bolt out of the hole. Turns out that with the size of my drill there's no way to drill a straight hole with the front tire still on and an angled pilot hole just won't work. So, and here's the dumb part, even after realizing that the e-z-out wouldn't work, I decided to drill and tap what was left for a new bolt. (Again without taking the front wheel off) Now I'm looking for a Helicoil kit! |

I disconnected the side stand safety switch and forgot i did. I then proceeded to go ripping down the street and i pogo-ed down the street like 3-4 times before i could figure out what was happening. And the little rubber drag-er thing that is supposed to help the stand go back up doesn't do a damn thing. |

I used blue loc-tite on the well nuts that hold my wind screen on. I used a combination of vice-grips and curse words to remove them. |

The kickstand. Pulled up, leaned it over, and kept going. Caught it about 6 inches high and heard a loud pop. Thought, $h!t, broke the turn signal. Sat it up, no damage. The pop was my hamstring tearing. Leg from the knee down turned black. Couldn't pick my leg up to get it back on the peg and rode home with it dragging. Better now. Still no smarter. |

I flipped a Buell Blast during lunch break in one of my Rider's Edge classes. All of the students saw me flip it my leg was stuck underneath it and they had to pick the bike up off of my leg so I could get up! |
