and now for something compleeeetly different: Thinking of accepting a job in St.Louis. Started looking for a house, possibly with small horse facilities (wife's hobby) and room for childplay. 5 acres or so. Anybody local here who could give me some pointers on good and safe areas for schools and commute? Would really appreciate some "non-professional" and straight-forward help. Thanks! |

Where is the office and how long (in minutes) are you willing to commute? I'm 45 minutes west of downtown and kinda fit your description so far. 63385 zip What else are you wanting for your new home? Lots of good deals around here. |

Over in Ill madison county east of St louis Edwardsville has better schools nicer town Where Myfiance is from and boards horses Friend of hers is a horsey person there. Its not a bad commute to St Louis depends where your going. They have metro link into the city not too bad. Edwardsville is better if you have kids. |

thanks a lot for your replies, guys! Office is in Hazlewood (63042). I am willing to drive up to 45 minutes one way. I was told that IF IL, then Edwardsville. However it looks like there are also great deals around the Chesterfield, Wildwood, Eureka area.... I will go visit in the next days... Again, thanks for any advice!

Avoid East St Louis and Alton, IL... spent time around Granite City, IL about a year and a half ago... what a complete sh*thole... three major refineries and lots of chemicals in the ground water... |

Unfortunately there is all of Missouri, all of Kansas, and a third of Eastern Colorado standing between him and you. I-70 is the highway to hell. |

who knows, maybe Frank will be moved to Kansas as a next step? So about the riding: Where should I go to be close to great roads? I am thinking that -coming from Nashville- St.Louis will make me want to wrench instead ride again... Anyways, Frank, we can ride together to March Badness, right? :-) |

The good (or bad depending on how you see it) news is that I have to come through Missouri at least twice every year on the way to see the in-laws. I could convince the wife that bringing the bike was absolutely necessary and carve out some riding time along the way. |

starts to look like the center of everything and everyone! I should expect being visited and toured with often. Good to know that all the sheep will eventually be united at a stable again :-) And Jeremy, do you want me to talk to your wife about that? |

I disagree with Iman there is plenty to do on a ride in Ill. Iman head to the river ride it. Or starved rock. Or further north check out the Galena area. Plus if there is one thing I've learned is that river girls like to party. |

There are lots of great roads around here. I just pull out of my driveway and I'm on great twisties immediately. I sometimes ride with the MSTA boys. They usually head south towards Ozark territory which is awesome. The last time I tagged along we did some serious carving including some 100+ mph sweepers. Living between 2 river valleys and being close to the Ozark Mountains offers tons of great riding. If you want a quick tour the next time your in town call me 314 574 4313. From what I gather so far you should be looking in Wildwood, New Melle, Wentzville, Defiance, and a few other small St Louis area suburbs. |

I grew up in University City, a few days ago. Traffic can be a real pain so you kinda need to plan around your work. My Sister is a Real estate Agent. Let me know if I can help. Neil S. |

ahhh memories, or lack there of. 4 years stationed at scott afb in illinois. Right across the river from louis. Never realized how nice it actually was there until I went back to visit after being married and having a kid. A must visit for the kids is Grants farm and the zoo. |
