I am sorry are people still in denial as to the fact that him getting elected was anything less than more than his race? The only people I know (besides my grandmother oddly enough) that voted for this guy only did so because of his skin color. They had no idea what his political views were or anything to this affect.

I think your dead wrong about people voting for Obama because of "His Race" I think the Fact that he is young, Intelligent, and is a Captivating speaker that convincingly (sp?) promised the American people that our Goverment could be better! Now I don't think that all he promised has come true....far from it but he was not elected because he was Black, If that was the case Jesse Jackson would have been president long before!

Well I voted for him and not because of his race. So you can count me Firebolt. I voted for him because i believed he would try to make the changes he spoke of. I believe that he's a better president than most give him credit for and i believe that this country desperately needed something different.
I'm sick of the good ole boys club, I'm sick of the racists, I'm sick of the homophobes and I more than anything am sick of watching bigots hide behind the bible to gain support and power. I believe they all will face a reckoning in this life or the next.

at somepoint you know its true. I dont have to pay my mortgage.... hell I dont even have to actually qualify for a mortgage, because due diligence credit reporting and job history is RACIST PROFILING

Amen.
I do suspect, however, that we are not talking about all the same people here. Some we would agree on, others, not so much.
Senator Harry Reid’s words on his negro dialect, VP Biden's comments on him being clean and well spoken, and Bill Clinton's comment to Ted Kennedy re: Baracks position of servitude...... all are racist, and all have an element of truth. ( no, I don't think Joe Biden is really very racist )
Barack's being, Yes, young, and a Captivating speaker were definite factors in his winning. ( his abilities without a prepared speech and teleprompter are less than captivating, however. IMHO ) A well made speech can make you seem intelligent, and his ability to switch accents for the moment at hand is excellent. ( Hillary's power in that realm is not so good. She sounds like she's faking it. ) The smart part is, with her, not in dispute. I've read her thesis. Barack? what were his grades? What was his thesis on? has anyone now alive and not on his team read it?
I'm not saying he's dumb, heck, no. Just that genius remains to be seen... so far he's done very good at pushing his agenda, if you count that agenda as what he promised before the primary to the Communist Party/Social Democrats/Union folk. Never mind that they ( his leftist base ) complain Obama's not done enough. They would complain in Heaven that the clouds were not white enough, and that Archangels get a nicer cloud than they.....
Barack is a charismatic guy. Way better at "being cool" than McCain or Bush, fer sure.
Some of his supporters voted for him because he "looked like them" to paraphrase Barack. This was the first chance any of us have had to vote for a "Black" President. Pride is good.
Many voted for him because he was the "Magic Negro" so they could vote their guilt at being of the privileged classes, without the fear of a "real" "down with the struggle" African-American like Jackson. Face it, Jesse scares them. ( according to the LA Times writer who is Democrat, Black, and smart, too. )
Drkside79, I voted against Barack because I believed he would try to make the changes he spoke of. Perhaps we heard different lists. I agree something different was a good idea, but not the direction of that difference.
Then there are the many allegations that Barack stole the election from Hillary. Lots of evidence there, and a documentary, far more convincing than that moron's that think Bush dropped the WTC with controlled demolition. ....

Obama will likely go down in history as the most destructive president America has ever had. Should he be re-elected, that position will be guaranteed. He has done more damage in just two years than even the most fearful could have imagined.

In 2008 I was standing in the morning line to vote in Baltimore city as a republican. Baltimore City republicans are 1 to every 10 democrats. I'm standing in line and the young black male in front of me is on his cell phone talking to someone saying it is really looking good as he is eying the line from the front to the back. Before we went to the polls we were told not to wear anything favoring either party because they were afraid of a conflict. There was a different air about this election than any other I've ever voted in. I believe most of the people in the line I was in would have answered the same way.

Racism goes both ways and i dislike it all. I dislike many of the racist comments on this site as well.
Unfortunately I am more of a centralist than a liberal but i do lean in the liberal "I'm sorry I meant Communist, Socialist, Nazi," direction. Unfortunately the middle ground is being eroded by the nut job Tea Party on one end and the extreme Liberals on the other. I find Obama to be neither. I also found McCain to be neither. In fact I liked them both. Had they run together it could have been the greatest thing this country had ever seen.

>>> Unfortunately I am more of a centralist than a liberal
The word "liberal" has been coopted by leftists. It's a pity, because it was a good solid meaningful word. It's meaning has been destroyed by collectivists trying to pass themselves off as freedom loving folk. They are liars.
What centrist position do you hold on any issue of consequence?
1. Do you believe that carbon dioxide is a life threatening pollutant, the emission of which much be drastically reduced?
2. Do you agree that companies should pay a tax as a penalty for emitting more than what the EPA determines is an acceptable limit for carbon dioxide?
3. Do you agree that the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge should be kept as-is for the benefit of nature and oil exploration there should be prohibited?
4. Is it better for America to use government to try to spread the wealth around?
5. Do you think that health care is a human right?
6. Is it more just to protect a woman's right to choose abortion in lieu of an unborn baby's life?
7. Should the federal gov't help encourage better/healthier eating habits?
8. Should the federal gov't provide funding for artistry?
9. Are corporations a major threat to the prosperity of Americans?
10. Is it better to allow advised and informed decision making instead of letting workers vote on unionization all alone in private?
Posted on Wednesday, November 03, 2010 - 05:10 pm:
11. Should committed unions of gay couples be provided the same status and declaration as those of heterosexuals, aka "marriages"?
>>> "nut job Tea Party"
Choosing to characterize the centrist right as the "nut job Tea Party" proves beyond any doubt exactly where your ideology falls, right in line with the far left.
Since when is a desire for fiscal discipline, a return to the rule of law per our constitution, and pride in America nutty?
Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., was the most liberal senator in 2007, according to National Journal's 27th annual vote ratings. The insurgent presidential candidate shifted further to the left last year in the run-up to the primaries, after ranking as the 16th- and 10th-most-liberal during his first two years in the Senate.

I think a lot of folks are way past being bothered by being called names by hateful fanatics, and are no longer going to bite their lips and turn the other cheek. I think this is only the first wave in a movement to return to our founding principles and reject the Progressive ideology that has infected America. Progressives want Socialism. Socialism is a way point on the road to communism. They know it, and they are actively working towards it.
I can't wait for all the 60's radicals to get too old to make it to the voting booth.

I know there were plenty of white folks that did vote for BO out of "white guilt". For their trouble they pretty much got a kick in the teeth. BO has shown his racist side a number of times. I think those people are probably over their "white guilt" at this point. They will vote against BO in two years because he has been a very divisive leader who has done a great deal of damage to the country.

Blake, I think myself a Liberal, Old School, lover of equal rights, and Constitutional Protections against the Tyranny of The State. ( why else have a Constitution? ) Absolutely agree that the Leftists have taken the name "liberal" and used it as cover, while the Rush's use it as a curse word. Torques me off sometimes.
You have to admit, though, that there are nutty Tea Partiers. It's not only the Obamaphiliacs who show ignorance and irrationality. I do believe, as I'm sure you agree, the vast bulk of bad behavior certainly lies with the leftists. It's far easier to find someone swearing at a camera on Youtube or cheating on elections on that side.
Best advice I've heard all year, is to vote for the folk that leave the National Mall cleanest after a Rally. Current loser is the Communist/Progressive "One Nation" Rally, but I haven't seen the comedian's one aftermath yet.

Interesting metric. I think you will need to pro-rate it to account for attendance. I haven't even seen attendance numbers for the "sanity" rally.

Go Read Lenin and NEP from 1921, it is alarming how close that play book is. When the NKVD get a charter (ie political police with arrest/detain/incarcerate/eliminate) then you know he was playing by Lenin's rules.

LOL. Ken is killing me.
Patrick is correct though, there are loons on all fronts in politics. As long as they don't get into office like Boxer, the right will be just fine and happy to take their votes.
No, you just thank them for admitting they have no real argument. Same with baseless charges of Racism, ( disagreement with the Party & President ) Bigotry, ( family values ) or Islamaphobia. ( rational rejection of theocratic dictatorships ) The use of sexual insults, like "teabagger" means you already won the argument, they are just being whiny children. Doesn't mean they'll listen or stop spewing dishonest factoids, but they have given up any pretense of rational argument. The polite thing to do is thank them. Then change the subject, you already won.
Homophobes really should lighten up. You know, those who think that Gays shouldn't be married, but support a civil union to ensure they have the same rights as a different sexed partner in life. Like, just to pick a famous example, Barack Hussien Obama.
