Early last week I noticed that the drier is requiring more than one drying cycle to dry heavier loads. I cleaned the guts out, made sure the drier vent isn't blocked, still nothing. Thursday, the dishes came out of the dishwasher. The bottom was full of water. I spent a good portion of Friday troubleshooting it. The sump pump runs when direct voltage is applied. Troubleshooting leads me to the timer which is almost as much as a new washer. It's 2.5 years old... Saturday, I got a call from my wife... The main line from the sink to the sewer line broke. That was an easy fix... Later that day, my friend since first grade, who hasn't been back from Iraq very long called me. The same shop who sold him $900 in brake work, told him that the head gasket was blown because it was leaking oil. Turned out to be a valve cover gasket, but in checking out the 'headgasket' I found that the waterpump was leaking onto the timing belt. This morning the blower from the furnace was blowing continuously. Cold air. No heat. Basic troubleshooting showed that I don't much about furnaces. The relays, etc. all seem okay. Even when turning the thermostat to the 'off' position, the blower still runs. Snowblower needs new belts. Buell needs a stator. Boat needs a carb cleaning rebuild. 1960 Edsel needs a brake job. I need a break |

Wish you were closer. I have you take the Uly out for the day or weekend. But, All your problems are the Cadillac Kind. Things break, you'll get them fixed. You have things to fix, most will never get the chance to break. Cheer up, life is good. On the drier, clean the lint trap with hot water and soap. You can't see the film that collects on it and hurts drier life / efficiency. |

I know the feeling. Try ebay for your dishwasher parts. In the last few years I've found cheap parts for several things that would have otherwise been economically unfeasible to repair, including a riding mower, a computer, and a car. |

I know your pain Thump, seems like anymore I spend all my time fixing things. This weekend I'll be putting a belt, pulley, coolant overflow cannister, brakes on the wifes Tahoe. Then I have to replace 2 more switches in the ceiling fan in the family room, and 1 in my oldest daughters bedroom. My dishwasher is on the fritz as well and to top it all off the Uly is still in the shop, this is the longest I have not ridden since I bought it (2 weeks). HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

Maybe we just have too many goodies anymore. Let's go back to washing dishes by hand, cutting wood for the stove, peddalling or walking to where we want to go. Actually a lot of our problems are caused by us buying the cheapest products out there. It's hard to build quality when people won't pay for it. |
