I am not at work yet because I had a doctor's appointment this morning. I stopped back by the house on the way to work and the phone rang. It turned out to be one of those annoying political calls. This one said it was paid for by a political party, not a particular client. There were two funny things about the call to me. First, it never mentioned the person running for the office in question affiliated with the party paying for the call. They only mentioned the other party's candidate. Second, they outlined the opposing candidates views, most of which I actually agree with. So...a call paid for by one party has convinced me to support the other party's candidate. Well, I actually have to go to work now. |

So the call was in the middle of the work day? Hmmm I wonder what party affiliation it was? |

We vote by mail here and I already sent mine in. I was all the commercials and phone calls would stop. |

I get telephone solicitations from several sources asking for my vote. Kinda strange as I have no vote! I don't know who decides who gets called but I think they would be better advised to do some research prior to calling. |

Seems to be a new universal strategy. They're doing it here too. We get mailed out flyers with the opponent's name in block letters. The slagging is barely perceptible and, like dynasport, if you already agree with the other party, it just confirms it. Opposite to me mum's: any publicity is good publicity as long as they spell the name right. (She's an actress.) |

Our phone listing is under my wife's maiden name, so if anybody calls asking for that name I just say goodbye & hang up. That said, it's usually market researchers with a masked number. I've never had any political canvassing on the phone here either. |

I got a phone call last night (10-27-10) from the NEA asking if I'd heard of Jack Conway. The only way I couldn't have heard of him is if I was under a rock. I laughed and said I had and she continued on how he was pro education and NEA needed him in office and asked if they could count on me. I told them I was undecided after all the mud slinging and wished we had another choice. I could tell by the tone of her voice she understood where I was coming from and she said something about appreciating a vote and hung up. I'm sick of all the name calling and derogatory commercials, I'll be glad when it's all over. |
