I'd love to get a clean wagon and give it the Impala SS treatment! I would pass on that example though! |

If you are anywhere near Topeka, KS I'll make you a heck of a deal on a 1984 Oldsmobile wagon.

yep, the thing sure is sweet! it would be fun to have just because though... ive got a lead on a 95 with the LT1 thats in pretty good shape and not bad priced. black with burgandy interior. bunch of factory option goodies on it, but for some reason no tow package. the stock 2.56's will definatly have to go. i like the ss look, but will probably go a different route(imagine that) although it may get an ss grill just because its cleaner then the stock caprice one, and color matched.
strip the moulding, and the chrome around the windows. some nice wheels and drop it just a tad. thinking either 18 front 20 rear or 20/22. maybe a rear roll pan. hope up the motor a bit. re gear it. plenty of other ideas floating around. im looking at them as a replacement for my 04 tahoe. i love my tahoe, but i dont drive it. the caprice gets alot better mileage(ive got a 91 sedan with 305) has just as much(if not a hair more power), both of them have the 3rd row seats. and both will haul my trailer full of bikes just fine, but the caprice will do it for cheaper. ive had my tahoe for 3 years and only put about 8000 miles on it. alot of which was from my 4 month stay in florida and the 2500 or so miles round trip and driving while there. its just a nice rig. loaded except for tv and sunroof. every other option in the book basically. and its been dropped 2/3 just to give it a nice stance with the 20's on it. nothing major, just a nice all around rig. plus i could use that money towards a house down payment... man do i really like my tahoe though... |

I had a '91 Caprice ex-cop car. Loved it so much but the tranny died and I couldn't afford to have it fixed. I miss that cruise missile. It had a non-LT1 350 in it with throttle body injection. Cruised easily at 80 with the engine turning at 2,500 and got 20 MPG while doing so. |

One of my every day cars is a '94 Roadmaster wagon. I LOVE that car. It is roomy, fast, and cool in a very sick sort of way. It has wood on the sides and about every week some twenty-something asks me if I want to sell it. And did I mention, fast? Handles like a harpooned whale, though. Also has the worst headlights ever put on a car. But who's complaining? |

There's a Caprice wagon running around here that's been "Ss'ed". Looks very nice. Glad I'm not the only one that thinks it's cool!! |

My drag car in college was a '72 Satellite wagon. 360/reverse-manual shift automatic, 2400 stall, 3.73 suregrip rear, 1.6 60' times and low 13s on street tires and pump gas. Full street car, lights, wipers, subwoofer, seating for seven (on seats)...we drove it to the Keys two years in a row for vacation, and it was my daily driver for about five years.
Kim used to have an '05 Magnum R/T with 5.7 Hemi. It got T-boned, I bought it back...the hemi and autostick is going to go in the Satellite one day. Probably with a Procharger I love station wagons! |

There were a lot of wagons around when I was a kid( a long F^%$#@g time ago). My dad had a 62 Rambler in pinkcopper metallic. My neighbors had a '58 plymouth(re.Christine)wagon with giant rear fins. Other than many Suburban type trucks I had a '86 Honda Civic wagon. Also had a '65 Jeep Wagoneer. I did a 1979 Impala wagon for a few months back when. I have repaired and or painted many wagons over the years. One of the cool ones was the disappearing gate and window of the '76 Caprice wagons. I got to work on them when they were new. Studebaker had the slide top that GM is touting on one of their mid size SUVs. They call it a new idea. |

One of my favorites of all time was an early 80s Crown Vic wagon with a 5.0 HO. I just showed the gal the pic of the Satellite. I told her I would get something like that, and she could have my car. She said it was all me! Anybody got a cheap station wagon? |

One of the cool things about the '76 Caprice wagon and it's disappearing window and gate is it's automatic self cleaning ability. We had one in the shop one time when we got a foot of new snow. Push the button and that window would slide up into the roof dumping about three cubic feet of snow right into the back of the car. Put the window back down and it was nice and clean. Of course the boss made me shovel the snow out of the car. |

i had considered doing a chop top. that yellow wagon definatly made up my mind. not gonna happen. but i do like the moon front bumper. i read that people take a set of rear bumper shocks and put them on the front to suck the bumper in a couple inches. that, a roll pan, get rid of the roof rack, and demould will really clean up the lines. |

The roof rack bars actually come right off with a clever knob arrangement. I took mine off right away. Check for rust!!! |

well i held off for a bit. i found a buick roadmaster wagon that was just repainted satin black, has the lt1 with the tow package. and the guy stripped the woodgrain off, stripped the moulding down to brushed aluminum and does signs/vinyl for a living so he was going to put something else in its place. the buicks and the olds have all the same drive as the chevy's but also have the vista roof above the passenger seat and look just as good with the right set of wheels and stance. you can still throw an impala grill on them if you want and whala. talked to the guy the other day, but still hasnt sent me any better pics of it. and even talked to him saturday and he said he had to leave town but would have pics for me yesterday. a friend and i had planned on going up there and probably picking it up today but he sure doesnt seem worried about selling it. startin to piss me off. its a 5 hour drive and i dont want to do that just to go take a look at at. would rather have some better pics to form a more complete opinion of it... did find one with 38,500 miles on it, but they want about double what these others will cost me(even though its still a decent price) and i just dont have the cash to swing that much currently. |
