I'm strongly considering some handlebar mitts so I can ride longer this year. NO, I'm not interested in heated grips. I'm sick to death of wiring jobs, and I don't want to push my electrical system since I'm already running auxiliary headlights. I've heard 2 cruiser guys swear by 'em. Anyone tried such a thing on a Buell? ~SM | ||

I did several years ago on a trip to St. Louis in late October early November. They worked great along with my winter gloves. The only problem I had was the wind pushing the mit against the front brake lever at anything over 75.It was just enough to notice that the front end was unsettled, then i noticed that the brake light was coming on. I was ready to get home so i just straightened my fingers out to hold the mit away from the lever, or slowed down to a speed that it wasnt affected. But very warm with a pair of gloves, i didnt try it without the gloves. | ||

Swordsman, I use bar mitts on my Uly and 1125CR and they work great, as I seldom have to turn on the bar heaters. I purchased a set from our local ATV shop and they are water proof and have a satin like material for a liner so your hands can slip in & out easly. I highly recommend them | ||

I used them on my Blast. Make sure they are adjusted correctly, or they will push on your levers. I used them with heated grips, but honestly preferred riding without the mitts. Takes getting used to having to put your hands in them if you need to adjust your visor or something while riding. | ||

Got them. The work fine, but push on brake lever at higher speeds enough to turn on brake light. And you have to get used to not seeing your hands. I know it doesn't seem major but just a little strange at first. Keep your hands warm though. | ||

wow i have not seen any one use those since I was in Korea. Those guys swear by them over there but they were usually very gaudy looking. | ||

I used to use "Hippo Hands" and they worked fabulously. Be sure to spend some time getting accustomed and understanding and practicing emergency procedures. You CAN operate the controls without putting your hands in them. And you CAN get your hands out pronto. Practice. | ||

I still have a set of Hippo Hands that I am going to get rid of. I did like them a lot and with the heated grips my hands actually got too hot.... (I ride to work as long as no snow or ice is one the road and it is about Zero degrees. They are great for the Uly. I recently went with heated gloves which really helps me on the those winter mornings going to work and are only slightly better than the hippo hands for ease of use. Frank | ||

The mitts work really well on the Uly cause you can pull them over the stock handguards so they are held in place and easy to get in and out of. You can also wear lighter gloves and with the hand warmers on you get toasty hands. | ||

Skins-those are from Moose Brothers. They make ATV stuff. They are mostly water proof but will soak a bit if left in the rain. | ||

Easy on/off and they stay open so it's no problem getting her hands in & out of them. I'm going to try a set on my Uly & see how they fit over the stock handguards. | ||

I used them on my Firebolt and hated them. Too much interference at higher speeds. Bought a thinner pair of gloves and then wore rubber gloves over my new gloves. Then I decided I would take the truck till it warmed up. | ||

How do those Moose Brothers covers deal with the mirror stalks? | ||

They stop at the mirror stalks you can do the velcro inside or outside the stalk. I did have to open up the seam a bit to fit them over the handguards. Here's another pair I was using that I gave to another BWBer and they worked fine also.  |
