Sad part is he actually died because of this. No one to blame but himself though.
The elevator manufacturer should have foreseen that someone would do this and either built it to not fail under repeated rammings by a scooter, or posted clear warning not to ram the elevator.

That scooter was probably unsafe under the circumstances too. It should have roll bars, seat belts, air bags, radar assisted crash avoidance, etc. There's plenty of lawsuits that can be had.
A rear firing auto-deploying grappling hook would have saved his life. Too bad the greedy scooter company was more interested in their bottom line than the safety of their customers.
they will probably go after the elevator company, since they have more money. they should have made doors to resist impact of 50000000 pounds. lol they should have thought of mentally chanllenged people on the street
I think what may have happened was he saw his reflection on the elevator door and thought someone was moving in on his turf... then went into attack mode... and now we know the rest of the story...

The man in the motorised vehicle let his anger get the better of him when he missed an elevator in a shopping centre after the woman inside pressed the button to go down.
As the doors closed a split-second before he reached the lift, the man, known only as Mr Lee, slammed his vehicle into them.
The 40-year-old pressed the button to no avail and the elevator left. Mr Lee then reversed his vehicle slightly and drove into the doors again, making a dent.
He reversed back for one more attempt. This time the doors gave way and he plunged to his death.
He is believed to have fallen about 6m (19ft).
The incident, which happened in August, was caught on security cameras in the shopping centre in Daejon, South Korea.
Police said the accident was caused by Mr Lee’s anger at the woman not holding the door for him.
Shopping centre officials have vowed to strengthen the doors of the lifts to ensure the accident is never repeated.
