I'm a big fan of Speed Triples, and the bug eye lights, but I also agree it was time for a change. I like 'em all, I'd like to find a T300 model with the big single headlight and clip-ons one day...
2011 looks better with the flyscreen to me |

I'm glad to see the lights change. As the Speed Triple's styling continued to move more modern, they stuck out like a sore thumb. I liken a Speed Triple with round headlights to a Jeep with round headlights. I don't think I need to say any more than that. |

Time for a change - as in when you break one. The round ones could use a car unit and cost $20 to replace. Bet the new ones are hundreds - at least. |

Still like the older tail section and the round lights, but sure glad they updated the front forks and brakes. Friend had his 1998 Speed in here the other day with a 2002 Daytona motor. Was getting the feel of the new Triumph tuning software---what a sweet bike. He had a GSXR front end on it with nice forks and brakes! The early tail has nice curves--like an S-2. |

I think most Triumph double headlights look goofy. I dunno why they intentionally want their bikes to look like cartoons. ~SM |

personally I like the street triple with the fly-screen and chin faring especially in atomic vomit green but the flat gray R with radial brakes is very hot too |

Hehehe With the "cartoon like" looks of the Speed Triple, you have to remember when it first came out with bug eye lights - it was 1997. The Honda Hornet was a year away, the FZ1 four years away, and the XB9S with no fairing and twin lights didn't come out until 2003. The only real "streetfighters" around at the time were the Monster and the S1 (what have I forgotten?). I think the bug eye thing came more from English streetfighters - stripped down GSXRs etc, which often retained the twin lights or used a Cibie or Hella set. |
