I recently picked up a USB powered Toshiba 320Gb Hard drive, it works on my 8yr old Acer laptop with XP & on my mates Compaq desktop & on another friend's laptop with Vista but it won't work on my 2yr old desktop with Vista. From what I've learned, it's probably a lack of power from the USB ports. My question is this; Is there any way I can boost the power to the ports? I know about Y cables & powered hubs & all that, but the 'kin thing works on other computers, just not this one! grrrr. |

Try the ports on the back of the computer, the front ports are run off of a long cable and often drives do not work off of them. |

Get a USB hub that runs off of a separate power supply. Cheap too! http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N8 2E16817334016 |
