Rivers, creeks, and lakes tend to have some nice roads. Hey I resemble that comment. At least he didn't call us hillbillies... We're Mountaineers |

I've ridden those roads before. I use to live in Peoria. Now try riding I55 from Chicago to St Louis, you'll think your in Kansas! |

"We're Mountaineers" When did your hills grow up to be mountains? |

We rode to Peoria for lunch today. There's some nice roads worth exploring just North of Peoria right off of Rt 26. It may not be as good as mountain roads but not bad for corn country. I shot this video today of Banta Rd. just a few miles north of Peoria. Between all the cops we saw today and having a less seasoned rider with us we were keeping the pace very tame. http://s595.photobucket.com/albums/tt40/tkandel/?a ction=view¤t=Peoria2.mp4 |

I've got a shirt from Deals Gap that says "Deals Gap - 318 Curves in 11 Miles". I need to get one made that says "Illinois - 11 Curves in 318 Miles". I'm just not sure how many people would get it. I don't get that far south too often. Makes for a heck of a day ride. I think we were around 375 miles for the day, none of it on expressways. Getting down to Starved Rock isn't bad though. We hit major slow traffic in that area today though. Crawled through some of those twisties in 1st gear. |

haha i need one of those shirts to! but i think it would have to say something for like 8 curves, 11 is pushing it for illinois haha. but yea when we rode to ottowa the other day we passed starved rock, that set of curvey roads between ottowa and oglesby was pretty sweet, we didnt have any traffic on it friday when we went through it so that was nice! we almost turned around to do it again but we'll just have to ride up and do it again some other day! maybe camp at starved rock or something because i've never actually been to startved rock! |

There were a lot of folks from Illinois at Deals Gap over Labor Day weekend. They were talking how they had to travel 2 hours just to find a hill so they loaded up and came to Deals. |
