Wow- I've been checking the Buell bike finder feature watching the remaining bikes count since October. Either they did some big corrections to their database or they sold a LOT of bikes in the last day or two.
IIRC, the count yesterday was ~114 bikes. Tonight it's 78!!! I wonder when the last one will sell?
The big change from 114 bikes to 78 bikes is 2007 model year bikes were removed.
That appears to be the case. For instance, I'd noticed Tilley HD/Buell in NC (a former Badweb sponsor) had previously had 2 2007 TT's listed and they're not there today. IIRC, Ft_bstrd said the sales incentives had never applied to the pre-2008 bikes either.
I wonder what prompted the change? Maybe more diddling amongst HD management- they want sales to look better?
I wonder how many dealers 'bought them' so to reflect some mandate from H-D
I know a few dealers I used to work for would 'buy' the bike. Then sell it 'Pre owned' and extend the warranty on their own dime. This way they met quotas through Harley so they could order more bikes...
Hahaha..... Yeah right. The next thing you know someone wills suggest that HD dealers used to sell " non-existant" VIN's just to pump up sales figures.
:-)
P.S. - the chicanery of the past created a sterling opportunity for my oldest son who monitors and confirms physical existence of inventory for firms like HD, Caterpillar and John Deere.
There are two brand new blasts at our local dealer. Ozark Harley in Lebanon, MO.
The owner says he'll keep them sitting up front at the window until someone buys them.
The owner is a very big Buell supporter, he never got around to declaring a race team but he has several Buells that he rides and a few treasures in the back.

we have someone that comes in very regularly to check our actual inventory.
