the last couple days i have been saying that everyone thought hell would freeze over before i got engaged... its to damn hot here for that so instead it just flooded me out! my house as the water is still coming up. last trip out... was coming up about an inch or two every 10-15 min. Suck
my deck as it was starting to float away
my storage shed...
as in, the one where the xb5 project is along with almost all my collected buell parts... and everyting i own that wouldnt fit into my house...
driving in the river. every damn road in or out was closed. i had to go grab my truck to get around.
and it got alot deeper then this. i found out my doors aparently seal pretty good when it got up past the rockers..
the main highway though town. a block or so from my house.
these got left about 3 houses down. you can see where it reached.
and its a little wet inside...
i did manage to save the xb12... lol
suposedly it has gone down enough that you can now go down the main highway in town(the one pictured with the rapids) which means it should be alot lower at my house. only problem is we are suppose to have severe storms again tomorrow. and as an added bonus one whole city water tower dumped its contents from a broken main. that added to the fast rate the water was rising... ugh this guy hitched a ride on my for about a block. he somehow ended up on my waist as i was wading through the water with a 36" tv over my damn head. he was definatly dug into the skin on my side as not to fall off. its not like i could put the tv down and shoo him away or anything.
if you watch the video, around .57 you can see that white intrepid and the other cars that are basically in my front yard. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YQSnfvRw8mU&feature=player_embedded |

Flood water sucks. I'm so sorry that your house and storage building have been a victim of the flood. Thankful that you and your family are out and safe. |

I can only echo what's already been said. Sucks man, I'm sorry. As long as you and yours are safe, well, the rest of it is just stuff. Doesn't matter a bit. |

That really sucks Tim. Not much you can do but clean up and move on once the water lets you back in. I hope somehow something works out better than it looks. At least you have the XB12. |

Geez! I'm here at my house, watching the radar and the skies, HOPING for some rain to cool things off and such... Sorry to see the ginormous load of crap you're dealing with... Keep your chin up! Your mojo HAD to have been improved by helping out that mantis- I took one home from work a couple of weeks ago, let it go in my garden. Poor thing was all alone in a city parking lot, NOTHING good for the bug where it was at... Those pics will be handy when working things out with your insurance...

yep its been great! mud and oil coating everything(down stream from the junk yard that also flooded...) dug my lawn mower out of the mud under the house lastnight. i was surprised when i opened the gas tank that it was still almost empty with nothing but fuel in it. and the oil tank had nothing but oil in it. the thing was under a couple feet of water... how the hell does that happen. guess i'll pull the plug and pull it over slowly and see what comes out. i am so not looking forward to laying under the house and replacing all the insulation. yuck. cant even do much cleaning at the house yet because of the city's water problems. atleast i still have a home at jenn's. now if i could just figure out were half my clothes are! |

This might be a really dumb question, but can you buy a new house with your homeowner's insurance... just seems it would be impossible to fix the old one... Anyhow, hang in there... we had 85 degrees and 95 percent humidity out working in the trenches yesterday... and I am actually glad to see it raining today, but then again I am on a hill... |

Homeowners insurance does not cover flood water. You have to have flood insurance. This is a case where FEMA will have to come in and hope that they can qualify for something they have to offer. Either way it sucks! |

I lived in Cedar Rapids the summer that area flooded really bad. The flood waters exceeded the 500-yr flood plan. There were so many families displaced that didn't have flood insurance. I was on the lucky side of the river. It looks like IA needs to put some more thought into their flood management plans. |
