There is a tendency for trolls to pollute and hijack threads. The Conservative Clubhouse was for a serious discussion about potential Conservative candidates to unseat the current monstrosity occupying the White House. Instead, Socialist claptrap was spewed and went off topic. The naming of the thread topics have been tongue in cheek but was missed by some. This thread is for posts about America bashing and how greedy Capitalists are stealing from the "poor". |

I don't expect a thread to stay ALL my way. There is no reason to post if that was true. There is a reasonable expectation that trolls and thread hijackers should be filtered out and admonished by the moderators. |

Nothing wrong with discussing politics on Quickboard, especially when the thread is labeled political. Quickboard also discusses guns, movies, cameras, music. Politics might not be for the faint of heart but those people can choose not to open the thread. I think the Conservative thread has been hugely successful until the trolling started. I learned about some Conservatives whom I had never heard of. It will be motorcyclists like us who help throw the bums out of Washington. |

Spidey: Reindog is a good man, and a good friend. I've partied with both of you fellas, and I'd gladly fight side-by-side with either of you in any battle. It OUGHT to be ok to discuss politics here on the board. The Quick Board is a catch-all, and there's never been a rule that says it's "only" motorcycles. Tom (Reindog) is well informed. His political views may or may not mesh with yours or mine (actually, his views mesh with mine), but he's well educated, and well spoken. Maybe someday I'll get a chance to introduce the two of you to each other, but in the meantime: Spidey, meet Reindog. Reindog, meet Spidey. FB |

Resist any attempt to outlaw the Communist Party. 13. Do away with all loyalty oaths. 14. Continue giving Russia access to the U.S. Patent Office. 15. Capture one or both of the political parties in the United States. 16. Use technical decisions of the courts to weaken basic American institutions by claiming their activities violate civil rights. 17. Get control of the schools. Use them as transmission belts for socialism and current Communist propaganda. Soften the curriculum. Get control of teachers' associations. Put the party line in textbooks. 18. Gain control of all student newspapers. 19. Use student riots to foment public protests against programs or organizations which are under Communist attack. 20. Infiltrate the press. Get control of book-review assignments, editorial writing, policymaking positions. 21. Gain control of key positions in radio, TV, and motion pictures. 22. Continue discrediting American culture by degrading all forms of artistic expression. An American Communist cell was told to "eliminate all good sculpture from parks and buildings, substitute shapeless, awkward and meaningless forms." 23. Eliminate all laws governing obscenity by calling them "censorship" and a violation of free speech and free press. 25. Break down cultural standards of morality by promoting pornography and obscenity in books, magazines, motion pictures, radio, and TV. 26. Present homosexuality, degeneracy and promiscuity as "normal, natural, healthy." 27. Infiltrate the churches and replace revealed religion with "social" religion. Discredit the Bible and emphasize the need for intellectual maturity which does not need a "religious crutch." 28. Eliminate prayer or any phase of religious expression in the schools on the ground that it violates the principle of "separation of church and state." 29. Discredit the American Constitution by calling it inadequate, old-fashioned, out of step with modern needs, a hindrance to cooperation between nations on a worldwide basis. 30. Discredit the American Founding Fathers. Present them as selfish aristocrats who had no concern for the "common man." 31. Belittle all forms of American culture and discourage the teaching of American history on the ground that it was only a minor part of the "big picture." Give more emphasis to Russian history since the Communists took over. 32. Support any socialist movement to give centralized control over any part of the culture--education, social agencies, welfare programs, mental health clinics, etc. 33. Eliminate all laws or procedures which interfere with the operation of the Communist apparatus. 34. Eliminate the House Committee on Un-American Activities. 35. Discredit and eventually dismantle the FBI. 36. Infiltrate and gain control of more unions. 37. Infiltrate and gain control of big business. 38. Transfer some of the powers of arrest from the police to social agencies. Treat all behavioral problems as psychiatric disorders which no one but psychiatrists can understand [or treat]. 39. Dominate the psychiatric profession and use mental health laws as a means of gaining coercive control over those who oppose Communist goals. 40. Discredit the family as an institution. Encourage promiscuity and easy divorce. 41. Emphasize the need to raise children away from the negative influence of parents. Attribute prejudices, mental blocks and retarding of children to suppressive influence of parents. 42. Create the impression that violence and insurrection are legitimate aspects of the American tradition; that students and special-interest groups should rise up and use ["]united force["] to solve economic, political or social problems. 43. Overthrow all colonial governments before native populations are ready for self-government. 44. Internationalize the Panama Canal. 45. I thought this bucket was supposed to be for socialists, yet reactionaries are doing most of the posting. Make no mistake, most of the people on BadWeb who identify themselves as conservative ARE NOT conservatives. They are reactionaries. They believe America was at it's best in the late 18th century. America and the whole world is a completely different place now than it was in the late 18th century but reactionaries can't grasp that fact. Tricornes fell out of fashion a long time ago but reactionaries think they're as current as Lady Gaga. |

Spidey, two (or more) people ought to be able to have a "nice" discussion about just about anything, even if their viewpoints are diametrically opposed on issues such as how best, or who best, to save the United States. Just sayin,' M2me, not sure if you've just painted me with your broad brush of reactionism or not. If so, I'm not much for "categories" when it comes to describing mine (or anyone else's) point of view. However, if it's important to you, I believe in the words and the wisdom of the United States Constitution. Certainly times have changed, but the core values set forth by our Founding Father have not. They gained, at great cost, yours and my liberty. And they created a rule book whereby they sought to guide future generations on how best to maintain yours and my liberty. Our present governmental leaders - many of them, anyway - seem to have forgotten their high school history lessons. The colonists who fought, who sacrificed, who gave their lives, securing yours and my liberty would be positively appalled at what our nation has let itself become. Regards, FB |

However, if it's important to you, I believe in the words and the wisdom of the United States Constitution. Certainly times have changed, but the core values set forth by our Founding Father have not. I agree 100% with you on that. Here are a couple of snippets from the Constitution.

What does "the general Welfare" mean? Does it mean the same thing today as it did when the Founding Fathers wrote it? What does "regulate Commerce" mean? Is commerce the same today as it was when the Constitution was written? These questions, and many more, are what we need to think about when considering government and public policy. Just because I might think about them differently than you, or anyone else, does not automatically mean I hate America or do not believe in "the core values set forth by our Founding Fathers". And vice-versa. |

Jerry, you're welcome. I always try to be as civil as I can. Sometimes I post stuff to be funny and some people take it the wrong way. I try to use smilies but it's hard with this type of format to get the meaning across. The questions I was asking are serious but you don't have to answer them if you don't want to. I was just trying to show the types of questions I think about when I think about government policy like health care, Social Security, regulation of business, etc. |

Good shit. It's 2010. I dig sociology, studied it, majored in it, Philosophy too, really glommed on to the idea of the dialectic. I believe it was Socrates, I could be wrong.
