I've been having a less than satisfactory experience with a new seat ordered in May 2010. Was wondering if anyone else has dealt with them lately? Al at American Sport Bike cautioned me about them but I went ahead anyway. |

I will stop after saying this...I will ride my bike with a splintered 2x4 for a seat before I will spend another single dime with Corbin....I hope they read this |

I must have been lucky. I've had 3 Corbins, still have 2. Quality and fit have been top notch. |

I never had a problem with product quality. And if you are buying a seat that is common enough for them to have what you want in stock, it might be a different story. My seat was custom, special order...and they so mishandled this customer with compound lies and utter incompetence. |

I have a used one I bought that I'm happy with. I would not have been able to make myself pay the price they want for a new one. I have no loyalty one way or the other. I'm curious as to your troubles with them. Quality, fit, communications, lead-time??? For what they ask you shouldn't have any problems. |

The customer service has gone downhill.(in my opinion) I ordered a fender for a customer and it came in with runs in the paint, sent back 2 months ago for rework......haven't heard yet,I don't expect to unless I call. Ordered bags, they change the ship date every time I call to find out why we haven't received them yet....just my experiences of recent date

The mail-order seats seam to not have very good customer service a lot with Corbin, though if you get it custom done in person at the factory the service is top-notch, from the reports I've heard. |

Al summed it up best: Their customer service would have to improve by an order of magnitude to merely SUCK. If your seat fits and works out of the box, good for you. If not, you have my sympathy. With Al's help and the assistance of my more mechanically inclined friends we were finally able to get my Corbin saddle to fit on my 1125R. Corbin's customer support was useless. I didn't even buy the saddle from Al either (he won't carry them anymore due to their poor service) but he was more than willing to give me advice and info. He's got a customer for life. |

Now that you mention it I found a couple of odd issues but I didn't send it back. Perhaps I was in denial after spending what I did for it. I ordered a gunfighter for an M2 over the winter that they custom made. It looks great but the fit is just a bit off – seemed slightly high in one corner of the rear. It didn't sit like it should and it was tricky to get on. I initially attributed it to being new and needing to be sat on for awhile. I think the front is a little too tight which doesn't allow the sides to conform tightly to the lines in the tail. Again, I thought it needed a breaking in. I think they put the seat bucket too far back. I'm 6' 2" and still don't like pushing rearward. I stay forward closer to the tank where my knee touches the ham can. I never slide back, it changes the whole balance. Fast forward to now - sits fine in the rear, not high on one side any more. It's really comfortable even though I'm nowhere near the curved out part. Given what I know now if I had to do it again I think I'd try someone else. Better yet for the money, actually get measured on the stock seat where it feels comfortable and get the bucket in the right place.

Their customer service would have to improve by an order of magnitude to merely SUCK. That pretty much sums up my experience with them. I love their product, but God help you if you have a problem after you've bought it. rt |

Of course, there's always the option to get good service and order a seat from Baldwin's... |

I have a used Corbin seat, and I'm happy as can be. I've heard their customer service sucks now, although I can remember reading stories on forums about people going up to the "factory" and getting their seats custom cut... warm fuzzy happy stories. This, too has come to pass... apparently. Speaking of horrible customer service, Kneedraggers.com should be called feetdraggers.com because they owe me $65 since April. |

I've got a Corbin that is at least 10 years old and over 60K seat miles that is starting to split at the seams. I thought about having Corbin recover it, but fortunately asked Al about them first. I guess I'll see what I can do locally. |

The Corbin on my Road King has about 90,000 miles on it and it's holding up great. One of my buddies has a RK with a Mustang seat that's got 1/4 the miles, twice the apparent wear and half the comfort of my Corbin. Like I said, I love the product, but trying to get Corbin's CS dept to help with any issues or even questions about their products has been, for me, an exercise in futility and frustration. I even e-mailed Mike Corbin about my frustration and got the expected response--zero. rt |

If I was wanting a good aftermarket seat, I would get it from Baldwin. Excellent quality and much better customer service. Plus the guy is a Buell enthusiast. (Message edited by dtx on August 05, 2010) |

That's really a shame to hear. I bought a Corbin Gunfighter for my XB five years ago. It was perfect out of the box, and still looks like new after 20,000 miles. Anyone contacted the leadership of that company to find out if they're just not interested in remaining competitive anymore? They used to be known as "the" saddle to have once upon a time. |

Interesting also considering how much standard bike saddles have improved in the last 5 years. Only can think of one bike recently where I'd need a new seat. |

Before I got my Corbin I called American sport bike and Al told me that they did not carry them anymore but he would help me out and order one for me. You have to make sure that you order the right stitching. Al made the order and told me to sit tight because it was going to take a long time. Al received three of them one at a time and they were wrong or were not up to the quality that would be expected for the price. I'm very thankful that Al dealt with them sending back the seats over and over again. It was a total of about 8 months. Al will have a customer for life because of his great customer service! |

My brief experience with Mike Corbin is that he is an arrogant bastard, and if you're having a problem with one of his saddles, it's YOUR problem, not his. Mike Corbin is the "Anti-Erik Buell." YMMV. (Message edited by jaimec on August 06, 2010) |

My wife recently got a Corbin seat for her Street Triple. I found it on Ebay and didn't deal with Corbin at all. The seat is great. We dealt with a custom guy locally that redid the stock seat for the Striple, but couldn't get it to what we were looking for without spending a ridiculous amount of money. I learned a lot talking to the local guy and had my own thoughts on what would make a good seat. When we got the Corbin I could see that they have the same thoughts I had from the seat pan up. It's a heavy seat, but it works great. As for their customer service I have never heard anything good, EVER! |
