Erik Buell Racing are teasing with a pic and a short vid of an 1190R... with rear turn signals and radiator fans... See http://twitter.com/erikbuellracing "Why are there turnsignals on the Erik Buell Racing 1190RR? Oh I get it, we're getting ready for the Streets of Willow! " Thanks for the tip from Ljm in another thread |

I ask Erik on his facebook page about it and he said the guys at the shop were just messing around. I don't believe him. I told him to have them put headlights on it and I'll go pick it up. |

In order to get the 1190 homologated for competition, a street version is a must. It's just a matter of time. Wonder if a company who holds the design and licensing to a particular motor would appreciate the revenue a per unit licensing fee would bring in without having to actually put their name on the bottom line of production and sales. |

I would think that since the 1190 was so close to production that at the very least the motor would be emissions compliant. I do not know for sure and have no "inside" information, but I do think that if bombardier were still interested in producing a sporting motorcycle that they would not want anything done "halfway" and that perhaps a bit of the 1125 weren't done to the best of Buell's ability. The production line can be done anywhere. BRP wanted to buy (supposedly in Oct-Nov) I would not think that has changed, why would it? It is the people , not the bike that BRP would be interested in. I do believe in a year or so after they have finished testing right in front of everyone that is watching that some form of production will resume in some form and hopefully Erik can REALLY build exactly what his definition of a superbike is. |

Harley. The still own the "Buell" name and such. |

My guess is that Harley holds the engine rights. Those rights are worthless unless engines are being built and sold. BRP may have the rights after a period of time, but I'd surmise it to be a while. |

Comment on the YouTube video: brad1445: "Can you see if its leaking clutch fluid, or the speedometer works, is the stator working. This bike needs a complete re-do if they want people to pay over $5,000 for them." Ahhh, brad, brad, brad. You and all of the other haters are in for quite a surprise. The rebuilding process is slow and painful, but the end results (an Erik Buell machine free of HD's shackles) will be worth the wait. |

FB, since he went outside of Harley and had permission to do so to look for an engine builder, wouldn't he and BRP have the rights to it? Isn't that why Harley fire-saled the 1125's more-so than the XB's? And why he continues to use that motor? (Message edited by Blackm2 on August 01, 2010) |

Wasn't it just a couple of bolts and a plug in that held the baracuda II's tail on. |

Erik Buell Racing's engines are supplied by BRP via HD. BRP doesn't have the ability to use that engine without HD's permission is my understanding. Both the 1125s and the XB's were fire saled. There was just more interest in the 1125's than the XBs. |

Just finished reading Erik's article in roadracing world. My subscription has the electronic magazine online. Some major points Erik waiting for non disclosure and non compete to finish with HD. Then start anew. looking for the right package.....maybe with another manufacturer....maybe standalone thing.....maybe a partnership with some company... My words summarizing his quotes in the article. Also some interesting bikes that never happened...prototypes that didn't get past HD planning....turbo XB12R 120 lb/ft torque XBRR powered lightning 125rwhp Currently keeping alive with investors and sponsors, race supply, own money....has stockpile of 1125R race parts and engines and trackready bikes that are not allowed for public use. Rode my Uly 800miles this weekend |

For all those not at Homecoming or who did not see previous posts the "no compete" was lifted by Harley late May early June according to Mr. Buell himself. Love watching this new beginning unfold |

This is just a thought but since the 1190 was not in any buell production bike and it is not built by Harley so what makes it to were Harley has any rights to that engine at all? |

The sooner Erik is producing street bikes, the sooner HD can earn licensing fees. |

"so what makes it to were Harley has any rights to that engine at all" It's a modified 1125, which HD paid Rotax to develop. |
