although i got laid off from the best paying florida job i ever had because "things just weren't working out" or so i've been told so far. my daughter wanted to know if she can spend a month down here with the greatest granddaughter that anyone can have when she comes down for her brothers wedding in november. did i say that i have the coolest granddaughter in the world. as far as work is concerned, everything happens for a reason, you just have to figure out what it is. cheer up mark, you have a beautiful wife, home and aminals so don't sweat the small stuff. |

Keeping the right perspective is sometimes hard to do. I for one have trouble looking at the good things sometimes. I'm nearly 58 years old and have burned my candle at both ends all my life...I have ridden myself hard and put myself up wet far too many times...I'm old and beat up but refuse to slow down. Last February I got up one morning and realized that I could not go any further. It was all I could do to dress myself and drag myself to my truck...I couldn't breathe...I managed to drive myself to the hospital where I collapsed getting out of the truck in the emergency entrance. Next thing I knew, I was on a gurney with a swarm of people treating me just like in the movies...my blood oxygen level was 65%...I had virtually no blood pressure...my lungs were in such a state of infection, I had virtually no air space...after the fourth day, I was told that when I went home, I would need continuous oxygen due to the damaged lungs. And I would never be mobile without a wheel chair.... I fired the medical team and got a new one..after another 18 days in the hospital I walked out (with a blood oxygen level of 98%) on my own...unassisted...I took another month off and recuperated... Now I'm back at it as hard as ever...and maybe a little wiser....but I have always said when I go...I don't want to die peacefully in my sleep surrounded by loved ones...I want to slide into hell sideways...upside down...on fire...screaming HELLLLL YEAHHHHH!!!!! Life is sweetest when you really know how easy it is to lose it all.... |

Saturday we move my business into the building I bought! I have been working aprox 100 hours per week for the last month. Running my shop 65-70 hours a week and the rest working on the new building. I haven't been to bed before midnight all month. Went and saw Ted Nugent last Friday night with some friends. Ran into people there I hadn't seen in years. Business is ROCKIN! It's the busy time of the year. Hunting season is only 2 months away. Yep, life is good again! |

Just got the results back from my specialists: I'm remain cancer-free, and I now begin my 4th year of remission from bone cancer. Damn good, considering that they gave me only a 3 percent chance of survival at one year. |

Been hanging with my dear Sis and my dear GF yesterday/today/tomorrow, rode the Shovel with sis up on the 1st mile of the Dragon yesterday and made it back home in the rain, waded in a cool Smoky Mountain stream today, tried some of the "hottest sauce allowed by FDA standards" today with my GF in Gatlinburg, getting ready to make my signature Blue Cheese burgers and dogs on the grill tonite, had my long-needed storage shed built last week (12X16 W/loft)... Life doesn't suck too bad. Hope for the same for all youn's... |

Just when you thought life your life could not possibly suck more: 4 Airmen on a C-17 crashed and burned last night in Alaska. This is the first total hull loss + entire loss of crew on the airframe. Keep your head up! You have your health and the ability to see the sunrise tomorrow.

Oh, and a minor good thing for me, but minor things keep me happy. Bought a new computer last night. Spent more than I planned, but got what I wanted. Going to give the old one to my daughter (that's how I justified it anyway), but still using the old one while I copy files off it (doing that now as a matter of fact). |

I realized early on in life that there are no guarantees. Except that we all will take the final checkered flag, some day. So, I make it a point to do at least one fun thing every day. I tell people I'm taking an advance on my retirement. |

I have a great job, a new Buell and am moving to the country in two days... tonight I was riding through the Baraboo Hills on the City X and the fireflies came out... one of them smashed itself on my helmet visor and all I could see was a yellow glow... the faster I move on that bike, the calmer I feel... life is good... |

Just finished a 12 day, 3500 mile road trip to Hell's Canyon, Yellowstone, and Glacier National Park on the Buells Me on the CR and my wife on the XB. Only casualties were a couple of rear tires. Had my 30th b-day on Sunday and tomorrow is my 5th wedding anniversary. Wifey just locked down a full time teaching job and I just completed my third year at the engineering firm I work at. No complaints here...life's pretty good

She wore layers of black lace and looked beautiful. After 28 years together her visage still loses 10 years when we're together. If I have to explain you wouldn't understand. :-) I went for a full length blue cashmere coat, oriental collar and levis. Dress shoes. I was better turned out than most of the patrons. She dove the S500 in, and Jnr came with us into town and drove the car home after dropping us off. I sat in the back seat and pretended I was important. We sat by the open fire. Typical Italian restaurant decor. Polished wooden floors and timber chairs. Black and white pictures of stylish architecture or old vehicles you wouldn't wish on an enemy. 2 JD's to start with and we shared a mixed Bruschetta that was simply delicious. Entree was New Caledonian Prawns garnished with what I would best describe as a salsa, she went for the Calamari, served with vegetables that were similar to a Japanese Tempura. Very sweet. Mains; we both went for the Filleta, a prime rib eye (the beef in NZ is better than the lamb for mine - borne of the volcanic lushness of the landscape) topped with a spinach and mushroom garnish, potato base and red wine jus. The fillet was the texture of heaven. A 250g slab of prime rib eye with a uniform consistency that if you didn't have teeth, you could suck. Complimented by a northern Italian Chianti with an almost peppery afterburn. For dessert we shared a chef's selection platter of Tiramisu, parfritta rolls, mousse and others - which we divvied up, washed down with a bottle of sweet dessert wine. We had a voucher for $200 which covered the food and we drank another $100. We were paying the bill, and grabbing our coats to walk to the taxi stand and the waiter (who was first class and got a suitable gratuity) said; 'Hows the bike magazine going - I read your stuff.' I said to the taxi driver 'These doors might not be big enough for my head'. She's watching her favourite shows on the cable recorder and I'm killing half time in the Friday Night football - South Sydney V Canterbury Bulldogs (and sneaking another quiet JD or three) - I'll mosey upstairs again soon. Nudge Nudge Wink Wink. say. no. more. (Message edited by danger_dave on July 30, 2010) |
