Everytime I hear someone say "Obama can't speak without a telepromter" I think, well, at least this President can actually READ the telepromter.
That kind of jab has been popular, but since Bush II got an MBA from Harvard, I like to ask the people who make the 'dumb' jabs, "Were there dumb guys in your MBA class at Harvard?"
Also, it's "teleprompter". Spell check is very helpful, especially when alleging that someone else can't read well.

Please.
I'm not fan of Bush (and an even lesser fan of Obama), but I have tons of experience with MBA's. There are countless ones at my work, in addition to attending MBA-level classes during my undergrad at RPI (maybe not Harvard, but this is a "new ivy" school, so not some community college).
That said, I know more people who are IDIOTS with MBAs than otherwise. Obviously not all are, but the ratio has been a big factor in keeping me from going for mine - in my experience, it doesn't seem to add much to the person.
Thanks Ft_Bstrd, see he read that exactly as it was written... just not correctly.
And I'm really impressed with Bush's degree.. I'm sure it's the best degree Bush Sr. could buy.
But I guess I'm just jealous. I wish I had majored in "Business Administration" in college. I wasted way too much time studying Thermodynamics and Mechanical Systems and not enough time chugging beers on Frat Row.

I majored in Business and we always got a kick out of engineers like you - walking around talking about how business was the "easy" degree... until you took a course as an elective and just didn't "get it".
Make friends with the business guys - they can hire (and fire) you
Spent 3yrs as a Project Coordinator... hated it, didn't want to be in Management. Management training was the most mind numbing BS I'd ever been through. I'm much happier as an engineer.

That's almost the point - most of it is BS, you either have a head for it or you don't. A good school can give you some good tools, but it's really hard to make a bad manager into a good one.
I'd pit the complexity of navigating the tax code against any engineering design.
I can't sculpt a statue out of marble or CAD design a part, but I can design complex financial strategies that save the tax dollars that fund the statue and part.
i've been a carpenter most of my life and with out me, none of you would have squat. you'd have no reason to install that a/c, no place to design something and even if you did, where would you build it at. what use would it be to have an architect if there wasn't no one to build it. he can design a building but about the only thing he can do is live under that drawing. now i can go on and on but ya'll get the point. so no one is more important than a carpenter.
What then do you call a guy with genius IQ but no desire to spend a hundred grand to have someone hand him a sheet of paper that will tell him what he can and can't do?
Oh yeah, that's right--I'm a slacker.
Hey, next time maybe you'll consider if the guy actually has any leadership training, experience, or ability; and the capability to stay afloat in Chicago politics does not equate or reflect any of these, let alone character.
Ok Neil...I'll bust some balls. How about these computers we're on? The fancy LED boards you see at you favorite sporting event? That instant replay of your favorite basketball player dunking on someone? The local news at night? You wouldn't have any of that without ME!
