On the way to the airport in San Salvador this morning, saw a young guy riding his bike while texting with both hands. Never saw that before. At least he was wearing a helmet! |

It is quite easy, I often browse badweb or check my mail when on the slab. Throttle lock is a gift from god! |

Wait... bicycle, or motorcycle? I often text or websurf when riding my bicycle with no hands. Not on the main streets, but the inner avenues of the neighborhoods I feel plenty safe doing so. On the motorcycle I can't be bothered. |

What a bunch of retards! Ya'll bitch and moan about teenage girls doing it in cars, but it is OK to do on a bike?! While you are at it take off your gear, including the helmet, you are just wasting good products if you wreck.

My silence is deafening. Where ever I go,what ever I do..I enjoy being completely "disconnected".Silence is golden! Nothing new is SO damned important that it can't wait till I get home and can see it on the 20 inch monitor. |

I love the speech to text, when someone leaves me a voicemail instead of having to listen to it I can read it right from my email inbox. |

I carry my phone with me in a pocket. If I'm riding, I can't hear the ringer or feel the vibes, not over a Cyclone, & Suomy Spec-1R lid with 60mph airflow. Now, I'll talk on a cell phone in a car, but my friends have learned to deal with "just a sec, driving" as I drop the phone in the pass. seat. Since I suck at texting, I don't unless parked. Why do 2 things I could be better at, at the same time? (I hope I'm better at the driving part....YMMV) While NY has a "handsfree ok/holding phone bad" rule, it's not the driving one handed, it's the split attention. Talking engages a different part of the brain than riding/driving. Texting engages the talking part and the digital manipulation part AND the translate speech to abstract symbols part. Driving at the same time seems contraindicated. A Local case with alledgedy texting teen girls driving head on into state law, ( and physical oblivion ) shows experience in ALL tasks while multitasking is a good thing. noob drivers & expert texters=noob Expert drivers and noob texters=noob Expert & expert = iffy. Judgment call. I draw the line at talk, drive & smoke in a car. (I may shut up & toss the butt if things get dicey.} Talk & drive is it on a motor bike. Add manipulating a phone, that's pushing it. Just my personal limits.YMMV |

...said the guy with no touch-screen... exactly one of the main reasons i have never been able to get myself to buy a touch screen as much as i keep saying i want one. even staring at those damn things i never hit the button i want... |

but my friends have learned to deal with "just a sec, driving" Ditto that. I won't hesitate to tell my boss to wait while I'm driving since to me what I'm doing and what's happening around me is a much bigger priority. Besides, I'm no good to the boss if I'm in a accident. 99.5% of the time though I'll just simply pull over. Especially if the call is in danger of becoming a conversation |

Char scores big points!! There is a simple and economic solution to texting/driving.Make the cell carrier partially liable for a texting/driving accident(if that ain't already happened) and make texting cost more per minute than talking.Think about it. Carrier partially liable..........raises texting rates.......puts the phone back to what it's original intention was...........talking...... |

Text is like email - sometimes you daon't want that conversation - you just want a quick question/answer. But not while driving/riding. Pull over. Where is that sad, scary video link, with all those crash scenes showing that moment of inattention that changed lives forever... Sorry to sound preachy, but when is it ever worth it to risk your health or that of others? |

"I DON'T text PERIOD!!! It;s a waste of one's time!" Texing is how a 20 year old in Iraq comminicates with a 20 year old in Nevada who in turn communicates with another 20 year old sitting next to him that fires a Hellfire missle up a terrorists ass within a mere few minutes of the initial text message. |

Thats like making Budweiser liable if someone drinks and drives. Or making a tool company liable when someone nails their hand to something.
quote:I DON'T text PERIOD!!! It;s a waste of one's time!
Being that you don't text, you don't understand the convenience of it and how it works significantly better than talking in many situations, including times where talking is impossible like at a sporting event.
quote:I know I can talk more words per minute than type per minute
I can type more that twice as fast as the average human can speak. (Average human 30 words spoken per minute, I type 60 WPM on a bad day. Also the average human types 33 WPM) |

Is it not easier to talk......... than text? And it is easier to ride 400 miles to an even and talk with Buellers than type a post on a forum? Texting is easy, quick, and you don't have to call and have all the formalities or conversation. One quick sentence, question, etc and you get your info. Me to Froggy: Is Badweb down? Froggy to Me: No. Sure beats a phone call that woulda lasted 5 times as long...
