New trend apparently. It's when you realise 'you know...this sh*t doesn't really matter'. I got it after about 45 seconds. :-) |

Facebook and the Badweather are both forms of networking. You can use your network for advice, help and amusement. Cell phones and computers use to be useless but now there the backbone of our society. |

I moved away a few years ago and I find that facebook is a great way to keep up with people that I don't get to see anymore and old army pals that have moved on as well. I must admit that I don't care if your farm needs watering or if your pigs need feeding, but the other stuff is great. |

The bit I was reading went through the five phases of social networking. But speaking socially not workwise - It's like all things - balance. I have some associates who preface nearly every sentence with 'On Facebook'. Problem is it rarely has any relevance to right here, right now, meatspace. Maybe the fatigue is I'm tired of hearing about it. :-) |

I like FB, but as previously stated, it's all about balance. Be careful what you post on a WORLDWIDE networking site. Businesses are starting to use it as a free reference tool, as well as free advertising. The restaurant I work at has a Facebook page and encourages its employees to post on it to increase exposure to the locals. I dunno how much it's helping, but it's certainly not hurting. We're probably the busiest place in town, even though our prices are HIGH for our area. We have high standards in service though, which is why business is a boomin'. |

Yea - but that's a business application and they say there is no bad advertising - particularly if it's free. The other interesting effect is that there a lot of young people graduating with Degrees in graphic and digital design on the back of the 'boom' a few years ago - and the jobs have mostly evaporated. Google and Facebook do it all for DIY free. |
