This was posted on a local forum. It's nicely done, and it's pretty cool. http://vimeo.com/11285536 |

That's incredible . . . . I'd bet each of us has that "Old Norton" somewhere in our life. What a great experience . . . just watching that. |

My brother & I did something similar for our father. One day, about 10 years ago, he mentioned that in 1959 he was doing some construction work for GM in Detroit and watched the new '60 Impala convertibles roll off the line. By then he already had 5 kids and was making about $100 a week and knew he'd never be able to afford one. We tracked one down in Alabama, had it shipped to Calif, did some restoration on it and gave it to him when it was done. Unfortunately, he shortly thereafter was diagnosed with dementia but was still able to enjoy the few rides I took with him out in the country. My wife and mother rode in the back seat with scarves on their heads, the 348 cu.in engine and 2-speed powerglide just burbling along, looking like a picture straight out of Life magazine in 1960 (kinda like that Norton poster). Wish it would have ended differently but the sentiment was in the right place. |

My first bike was a 1986 Yamaha Radian... Note to my kids... if you want to do something like this for me, forget the Radian and get an old Norton. |

My first bike was a early 70s Honda CB175 twin. Would love to have one of those back in my garage again. |
