Rmr fielded a few bikes in that race. Eslick also won the series first race at Road America. |

Reg,I'm aware of the series, but I don't "follow it"/ "fan it"......... just seems lame to race against your own kind. Buell against Buell,Corvette against Corvette, and so on.It may make great racing, but not so much for me. I guess I'm too old to understand. Loved AMA racing in the 70's when it was a field XR-750's against all comers or XRTT-750's trying for a win. That, and I don't like the idea of using the name XR on a Sportster (gasp),even if the XR-750 is/was a glorified Sportster. It's just not right to use an old name like it has 'heritage'.(Ditto for the 35th anniversary Super Glide.) The real matter of my question. I thought Danny was bought and paid for by GEICO/Suzuki? RMR can do what they want, but I didn't see Rossi in the rusults(like that would happen). I loved Sportster's when they were Sportsters. I loved Harley-Davidson before 'everything Harley-Davidson' was even thought of. My disregard for Harley has been slowly growing for 20 years and has really took off in the last four or five years. Carved in stone when they killed Buell...........so maybe I'm just venting with the thread by proxy............ Oh yeah,I only know of the race/results from a news item I seen on the net.......... |

I kinda like one make series like that because the winner of the race is the rider not the bike. When there is different bikes with different specs and stuff like that a so-so rider can win on an awesome bike and occasionally a so-so bike can get a win with an awesome rider. Grant it I am not excited about a all harley series but still to me the one make series makes for good racing and you know it is the rider winning and not the bike. |

It's all about the pay-check,can you blame them...I see Shawn Higbee had to sell his house the last time I drove by it. |

If you listened to our own Steve Natt on Cycleworld Radio, it would make more sense. Danny Eslick made $5000 for 30 minutes work last Sunday at Mid Ohio. Not bad. Higbee made $2000 I think. Vance and Hines originally stepped up with a $5000 purse per race. Eventually, Wandell decided he wanted a racing hobby ( ) and Harley added another $5000 to the purse. First place gets half of each. Danny and Shawn are great guys, and I'm happy to see them take Harleys money, and though I didn't stay and watch them race, I saw a warm up lap or something, and it did look like fun to do and to watch. |
