Just wondering if anyone else has had their chin spoiler crack or break. I've got about 30K on the bike, about 25K was with a Jardine slip-on that doesn't have support for the front of the spoiler where it normal bolts to the front of the muffler. I wonder if that has a lot to do with the failure. I noticed the right side was cracked 5-6 weeks ago, but it didn't seem to be growing. I got home from a 5 day road trip last week to find that the left side had also developed a huge crack that had the whole front of the spoiler about ready to fall off. Just wondering what experience others have had on this, especially anyone that has an exhaust that doesn't support the front. Trying to decide if I should replace it or just ride even more naked! You should be able to replace it "for cheap" with an eBay search........but it will break again with out front support. |

That's pretty much what I was thinking... Both parts... Ebay and breaking again. |

And lighter too But the aerodynamics added so much to the speed down the straights! |

You should have "stop" drilled a hole, using a bit just a tad bit wider than the crack. It would have prevented further progression of the crack. Its not too late but you will have to repair the big one on the inside with epoxy or fiberglass or equiv. Actually JB weld might work. |

Hard to tell from the pics but the first crack went to the bolt hole and effectively had a stop hole. The second crack I didn't notice until I got back from a 5 day road trip. I'm pretty certain that crack got to that size in a day or two. I would rather just replace the parts rather than cobble a fix that almost certainly won't be as strong as the original. They aren't real expensive pieces as I recall. |

When I was into dirtbikes last century, my magazines said you could weld broken plastic with careful use of a torch and ground strap. I'm thinking it would look better broken |

Fast, I do like the way your bike looks with the muffler on it. Nice work. |
