I was just finishing a dyno on an X-1 when I saw a big ugly cuss gazing through the dyno room window. It was a big ugly Texan,Denny was working the NHRA races and had stopped by on his Uly. I was done with the X-1 and as he said his bike was acting up,I offered to toss it on the dyno and hook up ECM Spy to see what was up. Egad,it was terrible, AFV was 146 and it was so lean it would almost not read. Looked for obvious stuff like intake leaks but found none. Hooked up fuel pressure tester and BINGO--only had about 25 psi. So, no pumps available locally, called the dealers listed on HD Net as having one(There were only 2,one in Miss, one in NH.) They did NOT have and backordered to aug 15th. We decided to call Erik Buell Racing on the off chance they had one.Michael Richter checked and said looks like we have one,out of package, but looked new. He said he would run it down to get it out next day UPS. About 10 minutes later he called back and said because he was unsure of the pumps newness he was also sending a new pump from an XBRR,it was the same pump with a high pressure regulator. He said just send back the one you don't use!! Now that is service. Pump is in today and after some tweaking of the maps,J's bike is better than ever.
