Many of you have seen me at various Buell events as of late and have noticed wires sticking out of my pants. Some have inquired about this, wondering what the hell is going on, and if that is how I am on Badweb so much. The answer is the Xpal/Energizer 18000mAh battery and I usually am using it to keep my phone charged.

This thing is fantastic, it acts like an extra power source and can recharge your phone, mp3 player, laptop, gps, or just about any other portable electronic device. I can use it to recharge my phone from completely dead to full about 36 times before the Xpal would need a recharge.

It is compact, light in weight, and easy to stuff in your tank bag to keep with you. The reason I am posting about it, the website I got it from Woot has the "baby" version of this on its web site today. Unfortunately it isn't the 18000mAh one like I currently own, it is only 8000mAh so it will not run your laptop as long as the bigger version. A plus side is that this unit is smaller so it will be more portable. It comes with the most commonly needed tips including a tip for the iPods. If it dosen't come with a tip you need by some chance, you can get 2 free tips per year from Xpal to make it work with your devices. Only thing you can't get however is a tip for Macbooks, as Apple will not license out that lame magnet thing.

But yea, Woot is selling the 8000mAh version right now, and it will remain up till midnight central time, or whenever it sells out (whichever comes first).

Here is a quick review on this unit:

(Oh and I just bought one of this mini model to complement the full size : ) )

I feel I should point out to you Froggy, that in the English speaking world other than the US & Canada, pants are underwear not trousers.

Hence DD & my hilarity at the thread title.

Nah - not really in the antipodes - pants are trousers here - who wears the pants etc etc.

In the bike gear game they occasionally say 'Trou' - as in trout, sans T.

It's more that I never met a pun I didn't like. Groan-ier the better.

What? You've noticed?? Bugger.

Yep we'd noticed, but you have my dispensation to pun as much as you like.

Restraining puns can be dangerous as they can build up to a critical mass & become Dangerarse.

I just talked to my gf about that yesterday. We are on vacation in OH for the week and I have been using the palm a lot. The battery sucks, only lasts about half of the day if you are using it for anything.

Thanks Froggy

When I travel WITH my girlfriend, I NEVER use the palm. When I travel solo, sometimes I'll resort to using the palm...

... oh wait a minute...

When I read the title, I thought of an incident in high school, where a friend had a new 9 volt battery and a fancy schmancy metal pen as well. Well...in the middle of class the pen had apparently shorted out the battery for long enough to burn a hole in his pants! No, not a flame or anything, but a smoldering hole about 2 inches in diameter and a very hot leg and pen! Too funny.

Just a bump, about an hour and half left before the next item comes up!

Court/Mike, from what I have read you need to use the funky white USB port thing that comes with this to charge your iPads, it appears this is to fool the iPad into thinking its a legit charger or something.

This is another reason I don't buy Apple. Why should I have to purchase some sort of interface thing just to use their product with anybody else's worldwide standard stuff?

I just plug my iPods into a USB power supply?

Plugs into mains and has a USB out lead. Was $10 at the airport.

I also have an external battery for longer flights.
