Don't be too hard on Froggy. I couldn't find Court's Paypal address, so I dug thru old e-mails. Happy to say I found the right one. Z |

He didn't post it as a link so it didn't stand out from the rest of the text. Now I hope this Aol Doht Com guy doesn't accidentally get the money. |

Hey Court, if it's not too late to adjust the printing??... I think there should be one extra little thing on them. I think it's a fairly important little thing though. Either underneath the E B R logo on the back (I think it would look better there personally)or on the front. Simply the word "sponsor". After all, that's what this is all about-the Badwebbers collectively sponsoring Erik to get out there. |

Like I need another t-shirt, but I just couldn't pass this up. PayPal sent to Court. PM sent to Vampress. I haven't been reading this thread so it will be a bit like Christmas when I get the shirt and see what it looks like. GO Erik Buell Racing! |

I know it's being "picky", but isn't E B R more than just a hobby? As noted in the blinking red text at the top of this page? Should be: Donate to fund Erik's Race Team! BTW, I like the new "tittle" |

I know it's being "picky", but isn't E B R more than just a hobby? As noted in the blinking red text at the top of this page? I suspect that is a subtle jab at Brother Wandell who supposedly derided the Buell factory race effort as "Erik's hobby". |

>>>>I know it's being "picky", but isn't E B R more than just a hobby? It would depend on how you define "hobby". Erik and his wife are paying for the racing out of their own pockets . . . figure about $50,000 per race. It may more accurately be described as an "investment" or a "gamble" depending on which angle you view it from. In order to promote a RACING motorcycle company you pretty much need to be . . . well, RACING. The flip side of that is that it's impossible for a small startup to fund such an operation. I think someone bigger and much more capable will come along. . . but if a company's not racing . . nobody's looking. To me personally . . the huge success that ERIK BUELL RACING has been having, now that they are free of the constraints of Harley-Davidson, is a sort of vindication and proof of what we, as owners have been saying for years. I see wonderful things ahead for Erik, Buell Owners and Erik Buell Racing. But at this time . . . anything good that is going to happen is going to require ALL of us to be pulling on the rope. One person . . tossing in $50,000 a race sounds like a lot but it's not enough . . . our several thousand dollars does several things . . it, first of all, helps defray the cost of racing, it makes all of us a part of the effort . . . the part that moved me is when someone said they felt like part of the pit crew . . . and most importantly, as investors, suitors and possible partners look at Buell it speaks volumes about what makes Buell owners such an indispensible and important part of the Buell equation. In a way I suppose it is a hobby. Wandell's comments were short sighted and unbright. But if it is a "hobby" . . I want to be part of it simply based on the people I've met, places I've been and experiences I've had sharing Erik's hobby. If you're reading this you are part of it. It doesn't seem like a lot . . . $40, $50 or $100 in the grand scheme of things but to Erik and the Team it's huge and making a difference. Think about what Buell has done . . . just since last October . . . I'm glad to be a part of it and to have you guys and gals aboard. Court |

Okay, we're heading to bed now, and Court needs the figures before we wake up, so I am sending him the list as I type. The grand total from all the Badwebbers so far is...drum roll please... 84 shirts!!! You guys rock!!! There is still time for late orders I'm sure, and some of you have been unable to purchase due to situation, but the heart was there, which is what really counts. I have had many 'thank-you's' and enquiries as to whether the shirts can be purchased at a later date also. I also know that many have forgone the shirt to just make a straight donation. I would like to thank you all for making my task easier by sending details quickly for a last minute operation.

It may more accurately be described as an "investment" or a "gamble" depending on which angle you view it from. That's more along my point of view. When I think "hobby", I think of someone who does said activity on a more laid back attitude more for enjoyment and if they succeed great! and if they don't oh well.... I believe that Erik Buell Racing is putting forth a FULL ON effort with as much as they can throw at it, both dollars and sweat equity. I also look at it as advertising, like Court said, "if you aren't racing, how will the general public know you are in the business of building great race bikes and parts? I forgot about Wandell's reference about Buell Racing being Erik's "hobby". I'm just happy to be a small part of the effort this weekend at Mid Ohio. Has anyone set any kind of time to have a "meet and greet" at the Erik Buell Racing pit/paddock? If not, can I suggest around 11:00 on Saturday? The fan walk on the grid is at 12:00, Supersport race at 1:00, Daytona Sportbike at 2:00 and American Superbike is at 3:15. Mid Ohio Race Schedule |

I wish Erik Buell Racing could commit to Laguna Seca soon as it would be the deciding factor for me as far as attending or not. The expense and time commitment must be enormous, but hopefully Erik Buell Racing can make it happen. One would think the Buell could do some damage at Laguna as its not a HP track. |

>>>>I forgot about Wandell's reference about Buell Racing being Erik's "hobby". Wandell's comment . . . aside from the back handed insult to Erik . . . was much more than a snide remark. There are a lot of us who recall when American Made products, ideas and dreams were pursued with the same "FULL ON" passion you describe. Some folks . . not long gone from Harley-Davidson . . recall the company’s heritage when Harley-Davidson raced like that. In the old "Win on Sunday, Sell on Monday" adage . . . it's less the crossing of the finish line than the passion of the racer that draws the crowd. Harley-Davidson, in the course or loosing their corporate way, lost this passion as well. They don't, as has been mentioned, even lend their name to the current XR1200 series, instead leaving the "make things happen" to others. Erik Buell is driven by doing things from hopping up Studebakers, building guitars, writing music, designing public transportation systems, motorcycles and about everything he does with that same "FULL ON" passion. That's part of the reason that the day he cried . . . thousands of us cried. It was a day that someone sent him a memo that "cheaper and less risk is always the way to go". He threw that memo in the trash. Frankly . . . . I'm more excited about what Erik is doing now than I have been since I bought my first Buell 21 years ago. As those of you who were at HOMECOMING 2010 can back me up but Erik is healthier, happier, more motivated and more driven than I have ever seen him. A lot of it shows in his music. . . . which of course, he was prevented from doing before. Once passion becomes your driver . . the sky is the limit. Erik, by the way . . is also at the most creative I've ever seen him . . . Remind me to tell you about that. I think the events since October 15th have brought the entire Buell community, around the globe, closer together and made us more focused. It's also producing homegrown heroes like the folks who put together and pulled off Homecoming. I'm looking forward to some exciting times. Court |

I must say I am excited to see Erik doing his thing with out the reins of "the man" holding him back. I relize that his first new street bike when he makes one again will probably be a limited production bike that I will never in a million years be able to afford but never the less I also relize it is a stepping stone to get to the mass production bikes that the average joe can afford and until then I will be happy with riding my second hand versions of his creations. But all that said I do hope to be able to support him in this new step with either things like this or buying parts or clothing items (stuff I can afford) in the mean time until he returns to makeing full on everyday streetbikes. |
