can anyone tell me the fork oil level for a 2003 9r?
i'm doing a rebuild (with a 07 service manual)for the procedure but they have 43mm forks right? or is it 44mm? anyhoo mine has 41mm tubes so i assume the oil level is different?

Not for an '03 9R, but for an '04 12S:
(not sure when the diameter changes were made, nor of R vs. S differences - but maybe others will be able to help on that).

NOTES
● The recommended fork oil is hydraulic fork oil Type “E”.
● Use only TYPE E FORK OIL (Part No. HD-99884-80).
13. Pour 7 oz. (204 cc) into the fork pipe.
14. Pump the damper rod approximately 12 to 15 times or
until resistance is felt.
15. Place the damper rod in the fully bottomed position and
compress fork completely.
16. Pour 7 oz. (204 cc) more fork oil into the slider fork.
17. See Figure 2-73. Adjust fork oil level with FRONT FORK
OIL LEVEL GAUGE (Part No. B-59000A) so that it is
4.6 in. (118 mm) from the top of the fork tube.
18. See Figure 2-69. Install spring (16) and collar (15).
19. Move fork assembly from holding tool to the FORK
SPRING COMPRESSION TOOL.
20. See Figure 2-68. Install preload washer (4) and slider
piston (5).
21. Hold damper rod assembly (3) and install fork cap (1)
from damper rod

'03 and '04 Firebolts and Lightnings both had 41mm forks. The above directions are correct from what I remember the last time I rebuilt a set of 41's.
