DAILY UPDATE: You guys and gals are kicking butt . . . as of 1815 hours . . . . (6:15pm for those of you living in Rio Linda) we're at:  Amazing. Stuff you need to know . . . NUMBER ONE - WHAT THE SHIRT LOOKS LIKE: The shirt is iHEATHER INDIGO and will have Charcoal graphics. The BACK will be identical to the Homecoming 201 shirts with ERIK BUELL RACING and the Pegasus logo large enough to be read at a distance. This will maintain a clarity and consistency. I suspect ERIK BUELL RACING shirt are going to start drawing some attention . . . we, as the rabid owner . . want to be communicating a clear message. The FRONT will simply say: Loosely translated (as confirmed by our friend Jens) "PEGASUS . . . where the Hammer hangs". Simple, cryptic and perfectly capable of helping those special folks who helped get Geoff, Erik and The Elves to the track to carry a message. NUMBER TWO - WHY THE SHIRT SAYS THAT? We owe thanks to our German Brothers and Sisters who have spent most the season putting Erik Buell Racing 1190R's on the podium. The gist of this phrase basic was a sort of in your face . . . ."even with the deep pockets and resources taken away Buell, driven my passion, has gone on to experience more racing success in it's first year than it has under Harley-Davidson or than Harley-Davidson has in decades. I intentionally omitted the "showing HD" from the lingo . . . . after all . . . we're not vindictive folks. Our mission is but to showcase what Buell and Buell Owners can do. NUMBER THREE - YOU ARE HEREBY CONSCRIPTED AS AGENTS IN THE ERIK BUELL RACING INSURGENCY That's right . . . . even without the DB7 or the dart that fires from the wrist watch . . . you Elves (face it . . you're committed enough at this point after that record breaking Homecoming to being dubbed ELVES) are going to take these shirts and infiltrate tracks, sport bike venues, motorcycle shops and about anywhere you can find an audience. Here's how it works . . if the shirt said "tire sponsor" . . . no one would give you a second glance. But . . again thanks to the Germans. . . with the phrase "PEGASUS . . . where the Hammer hangs" . . you are going to get stopped by nearly EVERYONE asking "what the hell does that mean?" . . . . . this, my fellow Elves, is your opening to deliver your "we're more vibrant than ever" message. NUMBER FOUR - THIS REQUIRES SOME WORK & STUDY ON YOUR PART Being an UEA (Undercover Elf Agent) is not easy work. Some of you, the ones attending Laguna Seca, have a bit of time . . those of you attending MID-OHIO . . ned to get to work. You need to get up on the following:
You get the idea . . . . the shirt is not an advertisement . . . it's a strategy. YOU . . each of you . . . basically insured that Buell not only went to Mid-Ohio but to Laguna Seca . . . you need to be ready, the moment you get the "what the hell does that mean?" . . . to carpe the ol' Buell diem and go to work. In the event you are captured . . . the Secretary will disavow any knowledge of your mission. Okay . . . last thing and VERY IMPORTANT. Time is quite literally of the essence . . . by about the end of the day tomorrow . . I'm going to have to let the shirt folks know how many get shipped to folks and how many get sent to the race track. Some of you have included on your Paypal payment words to the effect that you'll pick up your shirt at the track. MAKE SURE YOU TOLD VAMPRESS THIS. She's maintaining the master "now that we've sold them . . .how do we get them out" list and will be sending to me. TRACK VOLUNTEERS: Several of you have written indicating that you'd be willing to help sell shirts at the track. I'd ask that you resend your e-mail with "TRACK VOLUNTEER: MID-OHIO" or "TRACK VOLUNTEER: LAGUNA SECA" in the subject. Between paypal notices and e-mails my stuff is getting buried. I'm going to try to make arrangements with the Buell team so we can set up somewhere near their pits. Finally . . . for those of you who have stepped up to help . . . we are in the process of trying to arrange another bonus. I've dispatched Dave Gess on a mission and we hope to make an announcement soon. And . . . . . once again . . . THANK YOU. You probably don't have an appreciation for how much your efforts are appreciated and what a difference they have made . . . A racing effort fueled in part by the grass roots efforts of owners is awesome . . now get over to face book . . . . your other Buell groups and see if you can recruit . . we're half way to our goal. Most excellent! Me and my 9 year old are going to Mid Ohio sunday, and we will be representing with the Shirts. I'll make Jack study first, so he can explain the bikes to people. Keep it positive folks... this is about Buell being free to finally achieve a pure vision of what they want to build. Don't waste time slamming Harley Davidson, the facts are out there and history will be the judge. If Erik Buell Racing goes on to produce championship winning bikes that lead to runaway success in street bikes, the historians will have oh-so-much easier a time sorting out the facts.  Tell the story of the bikes, and the people, and the future. (Now I'm off to go memorize the Buell values...) | ||
