Saw this posted at www.advrider.com and www.tailofthedragon.com: http://www.tdot.state.tn.us/US129rockslide/default .htm A huge rock slide occurred back in March; the north end of the Dragon (Tennessee side) has been closed since then. The contractor clearing the slide is finishing several weeks ahead of schedule. This will make a lot of businesses and riders happy. |

It's almost too bad they got it cleaned up. I'm sure the local folks who need to travel down it every day are glad, but when I was up there a month or two ago it was the best riding I've ever seen there. There weren't any campers, big trucks, buses, or cars just driving through. Everyone who was there was there specifically to ride up from NC to the end then turn around and ride back at a good pace. Also, the slide didn't really affect any of the really twisty portions of road. |
