I might have to stop reading anything related to HD policy. It just gets me mad all over again... I HOPE they do try to sell some cheap Chinese or Korean piece of shit from their dealerships. Then it will just prove the points that we all already knew... they care NOTHING about the American 'everyday' working Joe anymore (the very same people they are trying to market to they have consistently taken a crap all over)... they could not give even half a shit about the people they have displaced lateley... and they do not give an ant's fart about the American economic recovery either... they want to cater to a bunch of doctors and lawyers that pose on the weekends and don't even know what a wrench is... One thing is for sure... my NEXT bike will be European... either a BMW or a Ducati... at least the Europeans understand manufacturing and engineering excellence... by offering a superior product and taking care of their workers... Erik understands this too... which is why he didn't fit into the Harley corporate culture... thank god for that... Now, given that, I do not regret the choice to buy two Buells... and I will not want to sell either of them unless I am forced to to survive... The problem with the MoFo is that when they went from being a family business run by die hard bikers to a greedy corporation run by a bunch of egg heads that was when they made the wrong turn... |

The reason H-D(spit) couldn't make the transition in the 70-80's with a dirt bike/starter bike was because what ever they made/imported was second rate to the Japanese bikes that were offered at that time. I was racing a 74 Elsinore, not a 74 H-D(spit) MX! You didn't see me drooling over a H-D(spit) Sprint when I was a kid, I was staring at that "Thing" hanging off the front end of the motor, like it was some kind of elephantitis on an old man.(I now reflect on it as a neuvo styling touch from the 40s'-50s') They, H-D(spit) are doomed, locked into the past, they have given up on the future, there is room for both but they are riding the lava wave into the volcano. I look at it like the Emporer has new clothes syndrome, just like in court, the judge and the two opposing attorneys go to the judges chambers to figure out how much everybody is going to pay before the trial even starts. But hey, Buell is free from the bounds of H-D(spit), I now pronounce that the name of H-D(spit) is never again mentioned on Badweb! |

I frankly find them clowns at HD entertaining. . . someone has forgot to tell them that the days when they said anything and the world took it as "moto-gospel" are long behind them. Not only has their cheese been moved . . it's been mortgaged. HD has . . through their own ineptitude . . squandered away all the resources they held in their hands . . they had some of the smartest people, they had a customer base and they were in a position to make the markets they needed. They not only failed to take advantage of it . . . the actively screwed it up. It amuses me now to watch them continue to drive from their ranks the seasoned executives who know the business and replace them with vacuum cleaner salesmen from Chicago. I also derive a perverse enjoyment talking to some of my friends who are mid-level execs at HD. They have absolutely zero commitment to the company, no desire to innovate and are completely . . by their own admission . . driven my doing, generally in the form of covering their ass ..concerned with little more than having a job next week. I can't wait to see what they do next. I hope to meet Keith Wandell one day and be able . . to his face. . . to tell him how stupid he is. He could have had it all and he blew it. Do I sound opinionated? |

they want to cater to a bunch of doctors and lawyers that pose on the weekends and don't even know what a wrench is... So very true. Reminds me of a town hall meeting with some big wig explaining to us pee-ons what the customer wants, which is a bike that requires very little maintenance, like his Lexus. |

To me, it appears that they wanted to "break in to the big time" and hired a Fortune 500 type CEO. They got what they wanted. A CEO that is running them like a Fortune 500 — even though they aren't. Aren't too many Fortune 500's out there that have any real drive or passion in them. How would I know? I'm currently working for my sixth one. Yeah, still haven't learned my lesson... |

Actually . . . they ARE a Fortune 500 . . . but they may not make the list for 2010.

It wouldn't have any effect on Wandell, but I bet it would feel GREAT to say it. Kinda like the time I walked up to my boss and said, "Steven, this job blows. I quit." I had no income for the next two months, but it was worth it. |

Maybe Wandell is the next AMF for Harley. Way I see it is he will royally screw the company up (which he is doing a good job of so far). Then some long lost Davidson relative will come back and "save" the company and people will start buying lots of bikes for the 150th reunion celebration. Americans love a comeback story. Great American Combacks 1. Harley of the 1980's/90's 2. Hulk Hogan back to good guy after the NWO 3. 1980 Olympic Hockey team 4. Green Bay Packers 1996 superbowl season 5. Celebraties after rehab... I think the whole Wandell/HD combination is a setup. Buy your stock now.... |

"Then some long lost Davidson relative will come back and "save" the company" Well, it won't be Willie G. He was the one that brought the 'Easy Rider' culture to HD, which was good for HD at that time. But he is also the one that refuses to consider anything else, ever, even though that culture's time has come and gone and now just looks comical. |

And they're getting it... unfortunately they're just empty corporate suits who have no understanding whatsoever of motorcycling or what Harley Davidson MEANS to the American motorcyclist. |

Left me fix the line for you So very true. Reminds me of a town hall meeting with some big wig explaining to us pee-ons what the customer wants, which is a bike that requires very little maintenance, like my FORD. I want to ride, not do valve, chain, and xyz work. Just gas, and ride. I only want to have to add oil every 5k when i change it. |
