I was kindly given an extra frisbee for my 2yo son that waited at home for me. and some extra key-chains so I could mail them to those that had tickets and couldn't make it. the problem I see with guys selling the freebies is they take extra in an attempt to make a profit. next year I may not be able to get cool stuff to share with my kids because of this. (granted those that gave these all these nice mementos away will probably not be deterred by the ebay sales but its the idea of it) |

I can see both sides to the argument, but to me it kills the incentive to give things away if you think the person you are giving it to will just turn around an sell it. Kind of like passing a family heirloom on to your son only to find it on ebay. To you the item had emotional significance, to the recipient it did not. |

I had a second freezbee for about 2 seconds, then I tossed it into the crowd. My dream job happened at HC, when Erik Buell Racing didn't fire me after Court put me into a position in sales. I had a great time and got to help out. When I get something free, I would not feel right making money from it, I just give it as I got it. I did buy a freeby from someone and turned it when I found out I didn't use it. I was a give away from prior to my owning a Buell. Here is the preaching point: It is hard to receive anything when your hand is clenched around something you can't bare to loose. If you release your grip on that item your hand is now able to open up and receive. When you give smiles, you get smiles. When you help others, others help you. It is hard to give away more than you get. If you work for money, all you get is money. I've always gained the most when not looking for gain. Rant Off. |

I doubt we'll see many of these. This is one. Now if this guy took 10 or 20 or 100 at the cost of others getting one just to sell them, he should be beaten with rubber hoses. He's not going to get rich selling a free book for $10 plus shipping on ONE book. |

Not that it changes the story much, but the BOB's available from Erik Buell Racing during Homecoming were not free giveaways - they cost $5 each. I bought one. |

I'm with ft_bastrd If he has 100 when others didn't get any thats kinda f-ed. on the other hand theres lots of freebies I want that dealers here "didn't participate in" like the sling bag, I've been getting out bid on those on ebay forever same with the lock. funny I saw the frisbee and the brochure and almost bid on them, I still might. Does that mean I'm contributing to the problem? Court if you still have shirts ect I'm very interested. thanks, T |

Yes, it is a sentimental thing. I believe it should be. If you are willing to pay for the items, then it is a sentimental thing too, and someone is taking advantage of that. We didn't get a book, as I didn't even see them there, but I would have gladly paid for it for the cause. I think we got an extra frisbee, which is like gold in this house, especially since we travelled so far to actually be there, but even so, we were thinking of who we could GIVE-NOT SELL it to, that couldn't make the event. Something about paying it forward... |

? No one is holding a gun to anyone's head on the ebay auction. If someone wants to pay for some swag, then god bless them. No victim, no crime. MUCH bigger problems in the world right now than some chucklehead making a few bucks on some swag. God bless capitalism and free trade. next.... |

The only time I could see this being a problem (emotions aside) would be if the seller wasn't honest. Having not been able to make an event, I'd love to be able to buy a memento, after all, it'd obviously mean more to me than the seller. |

+1. I'd look at the purchase price as a service fee for simply picking up an extra for me. It's tantamount to cost of a beer or two (I believe it sold, finally, for $8 and change) at a pub as a 'thank you'. I sincerely believe the ebay seller had no ill intent. |

If someone has an extra keychain , or any other Buell keychain for that matter, they'd be willing to sell...I'd really like to get rid of the Harley one that came with my bike. As much as I wanted to...I was unable to make Homecoming. Just to chime in on the subject of the post, I dont mind paying a reasonably small amount for (free)swag. If I cant be there to get it first hand, I have no other way to get Buell stuff. Its not like there is a plethora of it to be had in my neck of the woods. That being said, the guys that grab a stack of freebees with the intent to make money need to be drawn-and-quartered. |

Although I was not at HC I would love to have one of the T-shirts that were available there if one in my size (xl or 2x) that is not spoken for, And Wilson mentioned a Guitar Pick, Would LOVE to have one of them! I don't see anythin wrong with the Auction, I love buell swag and have been collecting it since 2000, The more the better and if someone has something and does not appreciate it, Better for me! |

I agree that I do not think this guy had any ill intentions in selling these items on ebay. I have never been lucky enough to get any of the cool buell give aways that they have had over the years and I am often tempted to buy several of the items I randomly see for sale that I know were given away by buell just because I would love to own them. |

Ebay is how I got my Sling Bag and I love it. I can see both sides of this coin. If I needed to sell some of my Buell stuff to keep my bike on the road... then that's what I would do. But, I can also see why it would fire someone up to pay for something that was given away. Bottom line. If I want it, I'll pay for it if need be. |

They ALSO were selling subframes for $20, plastic bodywork for $20, all sorts of tires - a huge variety of stuff. For a couple moments, I thought that I'd pick up a couple 1125R subframes and sell them on Ebay (they go for almost a couple hundred) but thought that would be wrong, so I didn't... but I DID hear guys talking about buying the goodies JUST SO THEY COULD SELL on ebay. Legal? Absolutely! Appropriate? Some might think so, others not. I know I couldn't get any spares for my race bike because they were all snagged right away. I do know there were PILES of the $20 parts that went far above what individual riders' needs would have been. ... but that's just me... and I know soldiers have died so people can sell this stuff on ebay. |

I did not get a frisbee at Homecoming (I think Lynn gave mine away LOL) but would buy one if I saw one on ebay... As a matter of fact I purchased a lot of Buell free give aways on ebay (spares). I found the camel back bag useless as my beer kept foaming up. |

Ski Shot fiasco...... do tell? No way LOL Kristi, I do not think Lynn and I will be able to make it. We thought about just flying into Atlanta and renting a Harley (spit) or two but it does not look like our vacation time meets the needs of our lifestyle.... Frank |

Bob is just a funny man. We had an uneventful trip which is good. Jody past us a couple of times but we all ended up in Grand Island NE for the night then home the day after. We are going to have to get Dave to come to Homecoming one year. See you on the 10th in Gunnison Bob... Frank |
