Congratulations Fatty! An M2 was my first Buell. Your bike is nice, but I had the faster volcano gray model. |

She snores a little, but she's sexy when she's awake. |

I think we should form the "Blue Bike Brigade" and go for a ride. We need to show Cornell the sweet Tennessee roads so he won't miss Bavaria too much. When it's time for a tire, bring 'er on over. Shop should be ready to go by the end of the holiday weekend. |

I loved my 2000 M2! Great bike. Suggested short list (much may already be done)... 0) Adjust the belt scary loose. Do NOT follow the instructions in the service manual (just this once) 1) Replace paper rocker box gaskets with new metal style. 2) Update primary chain tensioner to new part. 3) Update shifter to new style (preference thing, not a reliability thing). 4) Change the primary gasket to the new metal style at the same time you do the primary tensioner. 5) Consider a 5-10V regulating filter for the speedo sensor. 6) Inspect the oil pump pinion gear at least once. 7) If you ditch the airbox for a forcewinder (I did, I liked it) I would just route the breathers back into the intake. All the catch can setups I tried were ultimately very annoying and only moderately effective. 8) The youdude flytrap was a nice setup for stashing tools. It was just a carefully bent hinge and snap setup, you can no doubt make your own. Maybe some zeus fasteners or something. 9) Rejet the low speed jet. Your main is probably already fine to a little rich from the factory. 10) The shifter pawl cam thingy is probably already the good one. Mine was (from the factory) when I pulled it to swap. If you read through my profile, you might get other ideas. Great bike! Enjoy! |

0) Done 1) Done 2) Will do it with clutch or clutch cable replacement. 3) Hate the "boomerang" It's on the short list. 4) See 2) 5) What's this do? I know the speedo is about 20% stingy. 6) Will do. 7) Race Can on the wish list. 8) Will check it out. 9) Will do. 10) Will check. |

Forget # 9 and replace the stock CV carb with a Mikuni flat slide carb. This makes your bike really come alive. |

I've heard. Right now, I'm just replacing the general maintenance items. Improvements will be on the way after that. |

Some tubers had voltage transients that killed the hall effect semiconductor in the speedo sensor. Other bikes never had a problem, but the ones that ate one will likely eat several, and they are like $50 a pop. A 5 to 10 volt regulator is maybe $8 worth of parts, and is a fairly simple install, and that will protect the semiconductor from the transients (which don't seem to hurt anything else on the bike). You can cut up an old (or new) car cell phone charger and use that... these days they are generally fairly sophisticated little devices. For you, I'll be happy to build you one if you don't want to mess with it, shoot me a PM. Or you could just wait and see if the first one goes, then add a filter on the replacement when you get it. Only a $50 risk or so, not a big deal. Oh! And another high priority update is the front exhaust mount. You want the beefy upside down Y cast one, not the "two plates dangling" one. And of course the shock recall... I think most bikes got that already, but if yours lived in a cave somewhere it wouldn't. I'm not a fan of aftermarket exhausts, but the Supertrapp IDS on the M2 could be tuned to not be *that* loud and really did (with rejetting) make the bike run much better. |

It's already got the updated exhaust hanger and shock. I don't know whether this is the first or 15th speedo sensor. I know it's not that accurate, but it works without fail. It's got about 24,000 on the clock. First are maintenance items. Oil Primary Fork Oil Fork Seals Brake Fluid Rear Isos. I actually like the stock muffler. Other than weighing a TON, the sound is fine. |

Pop the speedo sensor out and clean the metal off the magnet, that might clean up the accuracy. |

Congrats Jeremy! I love the blue!! The M2 is a good two-up bike. It's no Uly but with a Corbin seat you can do a full days ride on it two-up. You need to meet us in the mountains this weekend for mountain grass. We will be riding Saturday! |

I don't know if I'll have it back together by then. Needs a new rear tire and two new rear isolators. |

Got my isos and fork service items in from American Sport Bike today! Can't wait to get them in! I found out yesterday what the symptoms of a failed kickstand switch feel like. Strangely, they feel just like when you try to take off with the kickstand down. |
