At LAX last Sunday, my flight got delayed 8 hours, after which we spent another hour on the tarmac waiting for them to do "administrative tasks". I arrived in Houston at 3am, and my new connecting flight was arranged for 7am, meaning I need to be there at 5am. The friggin terminal was closed so they basically kicked me out and gave me a hotel voucher. Great, I needed to be in Jacksonville at 8am EST, but that was not happening. The shuttle that was supposedly "waiting for you at the baggage claim" took an hour to show up, and then all they sent was a little van for 41 of us. 5 trips it took for us to all get to the hotel where we waited in a long line to get checked in... all this with no luggage of course. So I got to use the shower, but I had to put my same stinky clothes back on and go back to the airport immediately. My new connector flight did have room, so I arrived in JAX at 11:30 EST and made it to my hotel, showered, changed, and got to my first day of classes at 12:30, just in time for lunch. No sleep, first food I've eaten in 20+ hours, but Job had it rough, I had it easy. The rest of the week went well. Now I'm back at JAX airport and my return flight is delayed, and guess what, I've already been told I'm missing my connection. The next possible flight is ANOTHER ONE THAT IS ALSO DELAYED. I've never flown Continental before this, and never will I, ever again. Word to the wise. Continental sucks donkey butt holes. |

So... I'm sitting on the plane now..... and the hits keep coming. All flights to Houston are grounded for at least 90 minutes..... Bring on the whiskey! |

Continental doesn't make the weather.... I feel your pain though and I've felt your frustration before too. Sometimes it seems as if they don't even try to allow you to make your connections. I know that Dallas can really mess with the scheduling in Houston this time of year when the afternoon T-Storms build up. A few shots of pain killer and you'll be fine.... |

My 1 experience on Continental was very similar. Last year I had to fly from Ft Myers Fla to Newark NJ to attend BMW Motorad training. Long story short, class started at 7am Monday morning. I scheduled a flight that was scheduled to leave Ft Myers at 2pm Sunday & arrive in Newark at 5pm Sunday night. I got to my hotel in Woodcliff Lakes NJ at 5:30am, enough time to shower, change & get to class...worst of all I couldn't smoke from 1:15pm on Sunday until 4:30am Monday morning... |

Jenn and i spent 16 hours in the detroit airport on the way back from our cruise. trying to get back for christmas. we were standing at the terminal for our connection there and it was still docked, but they wouldnt let us on... we were literally a couple minutes late because they had delayed the flight we just got off of that came from florida. grr. this after we RAN from one end of the detroit airport to another. that was a feat in its self. i do not run. much less run carrying my luggage and her luggage because she was getting worn out(couple packs a day will do that to ya i keep sayin) no hotel, no nothin. i spent many hours practicing wheelchair wheelies. it takes some balance to do a wheelie while sitting still but having the ground move along because you are on one of the moving walkways lol. |

I LOVE delayed flights! I was flying standby heading home and going through Newark, NJ. The flight I was coming off had left a little late but it was no worry because my planned connecting flight was a couple hour layover - 3 or 4, not awful. I got off the plane, looked around and saw a delayed flight to Albany, NY (home for me) that was leaving in 10 minutes. I asked the gentleman at the gate if I could get on and he let me. Taking the shuttle to the tarmac, I learned that the people on this flight had been waiting since the day before! I felt a little bad learning this after sharing my story of luck with them, but then I remembered to get to Albany from Newark is a $50, 3 hour drive in a rental car. Idiots, lol. |

most of the airlines out there will be the same. Weather, airport services and traffic are not under their control. Have you ever experienced being stuck because an 'i'll never spell its name' volcano showed us who mother nature is? Glad you have not, you could not blame anybody. Me? I got used to rubber sandwiches, airport seats and gate-to-gate races and enjoyed them all as i am now in boston logan |

Well, here I am at LAX, and guess what. They can't find my luggage. On the bright side, I was just sitting here chatting with Marcia Cross from Desperate Housewives. She and her husband, and their two lovely little BLONDE haired daughters who were very tired from traveling. I was sitting here typing away and they all just sat right down next to me. I looked over and I said, is your name Marcia, and she smiled and nodded. I complimented her children and she just lit up and we started talking for a few minutes. She is way better looking in person, and just acted like anybody else. Kind of cool really. I wonder if I'll ever see my clothes and shoes again... stay tuned. |

United airlines found my bag in their oversized baggage holding area. Epic fail on the part of inContinental airlines. I will connect my flights through another country before I fly with them again. Plenty of other people I met had much worse delays.... but it doesn't mean my experience sucked any less. |

Last week My wife and I got stranded in Toronto. We were sent to the ticket agent at Ticket Area "A" to reschedule our connector flight. Get to the counter and the lady hands me a piece of paper with a toll free number on it and says you have to call to reschedule. I say, "Can't you do it?" She answers, "No I'm not trained to reschedule flights, I'm only trained for check in". I say you are fing kidding right. You are an employee, have a computer terminal and can't do anything? Yep. So we call and get flight rescheduled to next morning. Are bags are locked in a room near customs. (When Flying back to the US through Toronto, you clear US customs in Toronto.) Door opens at 5:00 am we are told. It is after midnight so no hotel we just hang out. My wife and I are first in line to get our bags and make a 6:30 am flight. AT 5:00 we and the other 100 people waiting for bags for early flights are told doors open at 5:30 to quarter till. Yea, looks like we are missing this flight as well. So, little after 5 two guys show up and go inside. At 5:30 a Canadian government person shows up to let us in. He tells us we have to get our bags, have them retagged for the new flight, clear US customs and Immigration, put the bags on the belt and clear security. Okay. I ask where do we retag the bags? He points to the counter with the two earlier gentlemen sitting under a sign that reads baggage service. Okay 1 hour till flight leaves. Get the bags go to counter and explain I need new bag tag for new flight. Guy says yes you do but I can't do that . I say what. You are baggage service wtf. Does that mean you check the oil and tire pressure. Goes down hill from there. Best thing is at first the other people (around 100) think I am an idiot until they realize they all need new bag tags, have flights leaving soon, and no one can do it. It was made worse as some people were sent back from customs since boarding pass and bag tag was not same flight. Now there are 100 angry people and they realize why I was a screaming lunatic. Sorry, had to vent I feel much better now. Yes, weather is not under airlines control, but how you handle cancellations is. |

I guess I've been lucky, never had my bags lost or missed my connection. I always carry a spare t-shirt, keks, & socks in my carry on bag though, just in case. |
