Anyone know if Camino Cielo east of the 154 is open? Has anyone ever ridden around La Tuna Canyon in LA? Lighton and I were slobbering over the many fine trails that appear on Google Maps. Are they real and Uly worthy? Any other good loops near the 154? We are thinking of going to SLO and then Laguna Seca following goat trails this year. |

A buddy of mine bicycled up Camino Cielo. It is a rough road. I asked if he met cars up there and he responded there were several 4WD cars tooling around. I don't think La Tuna connects to anything, but I am not sure about that. Keep in mind, on the map, CA 39 still shows connecting to CA 2 and that is clearly not the case. If you are talking about B.L.M. or forest service roads; they are almost all closed to combustion vehicles, except emergency type. |

Asjborn, If we get stuck in La Tuna, we will raid your house and drink all your Aquavit. Tom. |

I've ridden Camino Cielo many times in the past though. Don't know if it's currently open. It was always a fun ride, mostly paved and with tight turns especially where the hang gliders take off from. One road I'd like to check out on the way to Laguna is Pozo Rd from the 58 into SLO. And then there is the Pozo Saloon halfway along the way. |
