Truly epic day 1 on our trip to homecoming. Perfect weather and Oregon has some of the most unbelievable roads. We came across deer, elk, cows, a downed rider (unhurt, but shaken), a galvanized screw, and a loose gear shift. No big issues though. check out the pics http://picasaweb.google.com/Adam.Mirarchi/Homecoming2010June1324?authkey=Gv1sRgCNuGxLzxoMvrcA&feat=directlink (Message edited by thepod on June 14, 2010) |

Day 2. 410 miles total. 120 miles of the most mind-bending perfectly smooth twisty roads I have ever seen - US rt 12 - absolutely perfect. Followed by another road (can't recall the name - Rt 1 - maybe?) which was the worst cratered marked potholed road I have ever seen. Pics are updated. Sorry they are a bit out of order. It's late and I'm going to bed. We have 550 miles in front of us tomorrow. http://picasaweb.google.com/Adam.Mirarchi/Homecomi ng2010June1324?authkey=Gv1sRgCNuGxLzxoMvrcA&feat=d irectlink |

The roads in SE WI are going to be so boring compared to those! I need roads like that in my yard. |

Did 530 miles today. Encountered a little road construction. Very flat compared to the first two days, not a lot of good scenery. Up next... 548 miles into Mankato, MN. OUCH!!! If you need a break and are taking Hwy 20 across Iowa you can take a 9 mile detour to La Porte City! Take Hwy 218 SOUTH from Waterloo. I'm at Double Lung Archery on your left as you come into town. I'll be here thru Thursday. Friday I head to East Troy. |

Day 4, 548 miles. A real bum burner. There was nothing to see. We were very happy when we got to the hotel.

That was staged for a cold beer - the 40 mph cross winds in ND were great!! Added to the scenery. Lolo Pass on Day 2 was amazing - we got some great HD footage of the ride that I will try and get posted when we get to Homecoming. |

We had a tire issue on Thursday. It wasn't with one of the bikes. Luckily we had the spare, which we put on. Then took a detour to a Northern tool, bought two new tires and were back on the road in an hour. We arrived in East Troy. Finally!!! Made our way to EB Racing and met the man!!! Rode 460 miles through ---- well corn, soybeans, more corn oh yes and some corn. The roads in Iowa are amazing -- ly straight. We did film what we believe is the only turn in the the state. We also were able to see the largest popcorn ball - good times. All are landed in Sioux City and looking forward to a less monotonous day tomorrow. |

You should run NE 12 west and stop at the hometown of Danny Liska (google him) and stop or eat at Two Rivers Saloon in Niobrara.Good running to Valentine then Hwy 20 west and at Chadron you'll start to pick up elevation and see the terrain change.Fort Robinson is a nice rest stop if your continuing west on 20.Also a great restaurant just south of 20 on 85 on the left in Lusk. Happy Motoring Westbound. |

450 miles yesterday and 410 miles today make for a sore rear end. We covered Iowa, the corner of Nebraska and most of South Dakota. If I could use one word to describe the roads in these states it would be flatandboringandstraightandlong. It's pretty bad when the most exciting turn is an on or off ramp to the highway. The roads and our rear tires match - both perfectly flat. On Saturday, we did manage to catch a little bit of road side Americana. This is the world's largest popcorn ball in Sac City, Iowa. Since there was no traffic, we parked our bikes in the middle of the street and took a picture. BorrowedBike couldn't help it and had to take a bite. We stopped shortly thereafter cause he had to poo. Sunday was no better and still flatandboringandstraightandlong. On the plus side we have managed to dodge the thunderstorms thus far and have stayed really pretty dry. We are in Rapid City, SD and just outside the black hills and the Badlands. Some decent twisty roads are ahead. A big thanks to Rocco, Crusty, Dana, and of course Erik for a great weekend. I'm sure I'm missing people, but thank you all The pictures on picasa web have been updated for any who care... http://picasaweb.google.com/Adam.Mirarchi/Homecomi ng2010June1324?authkey=Gv1sRgCNuGxLzxoMvrcA&feat=d irectlink |
