Well folks, we're back in Piqua safe and sound. The week was really full on and heaps of fun. Many lasting memories were made...and some were a little blurry at times, but we left with a contented grin on each and every face. I will try and get back on to post some pics asap, but for now...we're tired! Hope those of you that attended had as much fun as we did, and for those who couldn't be there I hope all of our photos will collectively make you feel as if you almost were. XX
I have quite a bit of catching up to do here, so you may have to bear with me a little. I'll try to break it up into bite size pieces. We left Piqua for Homecoming Wednesday morning..
and passed by this cool windfarm a few hours into the trip...
then kept on and headed through Chicago. Everyone at Homecoming agreed that this was a mistake, but the road most travelled.
Riding two up on the stt was a little hard on the nether regions...
but we made it in that night to a carpark that was filling up quickly with bikes of every shape and colour...
The next morning saw us head out to Blackhawk Farm Racetrack to check out some action and meet Erik.
This was how that night started....
but that is the beginning of the next chapter... We only have a few days left in the country to enjoy, so...Night all.
i have to say that it's an honor to have the two of you wonderful travelers in our home. we have truly enjoyed every minute that you have been here. you have become truly good friends in a very short time and we will be sad to see you go. so Graham and Kate I hope you have learned a quarter of what we have from the two of you. have a happy and safe trip home. we will miss seeing you!
Chili and Vamp's visit and wandering about America just added to all the elements that made this such a special Homecoming. It was neat to have Bob from Sydney, Australia as well . . . I'm not sure it this was the absolute largest number (Flick is going to check with Laura)to attend a Homecoming but it's darn sure right up there.
Hey I got the CD you had Alex Prior deliver. It's been getting many turns in the F150's player. Wished I could have been there to meet you guys. I kept looking for your call Sunday in hopes that you'd have a minute to stop by but I do understand. Been there, done that.
Keep me in the loop for a full length CD. Great music and would make a great gift for all of my music friends.
Best wishes to you both and hope we can hook up next time you're over here. You'll be back, I'm sure of that!
You guys took the Skyway..... Ouch sorry to hear it. Despite the traffic you all sat in Chi-Town is a beautiful City that is full of great food and great music.
First just let me say a huge thanks to Gary and Angie for their amazing hospitality for the past week, and Gary for taking us under his wing for the trip to Homecoming. We too thoroughly enjoyed our time with you guys, and I'm sure we'll stay in close contact for a long time to come. We are genuinely hoping that you, along with many others, can make the trip to visit on our home turf one day, so we can repay the kindness you have shown us. Without further ado, here are a few pics from the following nights and days (I have not had time to edit anything, so excuse the crudeness of the images)...
Gus's Diner on one of the very rare times it was empty...
On Saturday a bunch of us headed to Milwaukee to sample the food at the Comet Cafe. The weather was beautiful, ride was great and food was fabulous!...
Note helmet for perspective on the "Kimbo Burger"...
We passed by Ukes on the way to check out the museum...
And at the end of the day we ended up back at Gus's (the coolest little drive-in) for a shake and a show...
Was nice to meet you 2. Wish we had more time to talk. I bet it was a whirl wind tour. Chili. Are your CD's available for purchase? I need to get myself one.
Hahaha not next year, but maybe in the not toooo distant future Nope, they are not for sale, but if you flick either one of us a pm with your address tonight, we can get one in the post before we leave in the morning
JB2 - I really am sorry we didn't make it to your place, but it was one of those days that got longer and longer and we got more and more tired. Please accept my apologies for not calling .
Glad you're enjoying the cd Keep an eye on the label as some have been peeling off. Expect to hear more news later in 2010
Wow, I used to go to the comet alot back in the day. That place has really changed, for the good it appears. It used to be just a little coffee and tea joint, maybe a tuna sandwich and soup.
Thanks guys, im going there for lunch tomorrow now.
and thanks for the cd guys!!! it was a surprise when i looked down and went "huh?!" jenn says, "ya you got a present..." lol.
Glad you're enjoying the cd : ) Keep an eye on the label as some have been peeling off. Expect to hear more news later in 2010
yep, i think the humidity was doing a number on it. i got to tear the dash out of my tahoe in the parking lot of my sisters wedding because it stuck and the cd player would do absolutely nothing!!! strip down the dash, strip down the cd player, reassemble cd player, and put dash back together, took all of 5 minutes while the daughter and jenns son watched in amazement lmao. yep i still got it (especially since i hadnt torn this style dash apart yet) lol.
i really wanted to keep the label on, but i think it might have to go for the sake of my stereo!
Graham and Kate have had so many adventures since they invaded SoCal, but the truth of the matter is that we simply want them back! They barely scratched what California has to offer. They simply have no idea of the grandeur of what our State has to offer to a determined motorcyclist.
Awww shucks,...and we'd like to stay a while, but home, work, renovations, pups and friends all beckon. Some we are looking forward to seeing more than others! We head off home today-L.A then a yuck layover til a midnight flight back to Oz. Wish I could just click my heels like Dorothy. I am sure there are so many fantastic things we have missed seeing here all over the country, and we have had many people request an encore trip. Definitely something we'll keep in mind. We have had a BLAST. Somebody asked if we were being fed enough over the past month, and the answer is...I have gained 22 pounds since we first landed in L.A...OMG! Testament to the hospitality and good food we have recieved in our travels. So...here is my last instalment of pics from here as we head off home. Some shots from the trip back to Piqua on Sunday and a few others from Homecoming itself.
The Brinnutz monster bombs again...
The Sunday on the road back to Ohio...
When we reached Piqua...we were done!!
We are looking forward to getting home but it will be sad to leave. We have been simply blown away by all of the kindness and generosity shown us on this trip and in offers for future trips and events. Everybody has proven true, that you really do meet the best people on Badweb, we will miss you all. It's the Vibe!
I can't believe you guys made it to the Comet cafe!! ARGH!! You'd better have a doggy bag in those suitcases for me.. Thank you all for taking such good care of V and Chili - now send 'em home! We miss them!
